Re: VAR, yet again

And so the saga continues......... Sadly I doubt those running the game will ever admit that VAR hasn't quite ironed out the intentions it was set up for and it will be here to stay. It's not the technology of VAR though, it seems to have scrambled the refs' brains and they can no longer make a dec...

Sky News on TV have reported this morning that Liverpool have confirmed that VVD will go under the knife. https://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/van-dijk-to-undergo-surgery/185523 This is not a good enough source for Nicky Tanner, try again. ;-) He should have used the LFC website. Re: EPL 20/21

VAR up to it's normal self this morning.. How can two referees look at Pickford's, I won't call it a tackle, lunge on VVD and do absolutely nothing? I'm sure the intention was not to hurt him, but if a midfielder did that he'd be off immediately, don't even need to check the monitor for those. It's...

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad

only problem would be definitively adjudging 'intent'.... its easier if theres been no contact but if there is contact how does one decide what level of contact is enough to warrant a player 'diving'??? Like all things the ref has to decide on, it would simply depend on his judgement. I think the p...

Re: Project Big Picture

I am so pleased I chose a team that lost. If I had supported winners I would have been a utd fan! Genuine post btw. My support for Liverpool started after they lost a cup final. I find it hard to believe that your support was solely based on one game, however the fact is Liverpool were winning most...

Re: Project Big Picture

I don't wish to see it happen, but it would be interesting to see how their overseas support would hold up if teams left the PL and went to a Super League. Us Poms are never going to change our allegiance, mine goes back over a century in my family, but I'm not sure that the foreign support would be...

Re: Project Big Picture

Quite simply, it would be the beginning and end of the Leagues 1&2 and the entire pyramid of leagues below them. This pyramid is the real heart and soul of British Football and without them the Big Six would struggle to find young British players anymore, for it these clubs that attract and develop...

Modern football is rubbish I reckon I must now follow the two most boring teams in English football. To be fair Arteta was handed an overpriced bag of lemons though still not optimistic entertainment is high on his agenda. As for southgate f u ck me, the most creativity he could generate came from ...

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad

Pity he didn't stay axed. Cost us the game. He was rubbish and he took an horrendous touch, but there's something seriously wrong with the way fouls are being given in the modern game. I'm all for stopping the dangerous follow through when a tackler goes through the ball directly in line with the p...

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad

Grealish is far more creative than Rashford but Rashford plays ?? A bit apples and pears though, Rashford is a winger/forward and Grealish more of a 10. On current form, Grealish would be our best attacking midfielder, with either Henderson or Winks at 6, but depends very much on what formation Sou...

Wow, that was a morning to savour. What a morning of football . Liverpool and Man U both spanked by 5 goals . I would put the Villa’s result slightly ahead of Spurs, but not by much . Yet you want is salary caps, no foreigners etc

With what you want you wouldn’t get the excitement.

Of course it is the aggregate of everyone. However, it is still a maximum wage as if you decide to play all amateurs bar one, that one person could only earn the salary cap. Thus, there would be a maximum wage.
Very true. How many amateurs do you know that play for League 1 or 2 clubs?

Re: Salary Caps in League One and Two

I see the clubs voted in favour of salary caps for season 20/21 . But the players union PFA is looking at a legal challenge . Let's hope the legal challenge is successful, England is not a communist country. Are salary caps basically equivalent of maximum wage? Uk had that - and it wasn’t communist...

Re: EPL 20/21

After listening to Dermot Gallacher, it appears that I may have been a bit unfair on the refs, they're simply doing what they've been told to do by FIFA and IFAB. Which is to totally shiraz up the game that we love. Bunch of champagne. The LOTG were largely fine for 130 years, with on pitch refs mak...

VAR continues to dominate. Worst thing to happen to football, possibly ever.
The game is a total mess and the VAR and referees are largely to blame, one small positive is that they do appear to be using the pitchside monitor at last.

Still some incredibly dumb decisions being made, especially handballs, but good to see Paul Tierney actually going and checking the monitor and then correctly dismissing Christensen. It gives me hope that the system will be better this season. Not holding my breath though.
