Greek Easter, low div teams not being that excited about Cups, illness outbreaks, and 2 Saturday clubs being asked to play on a Sunday were probably all contributing factors.

Re: Silly Season
What happened in the Cichinowski final? Downs putting 7 past Jets (I don't Jest!) - after being thrashed themselves earlier in the week by Ghan? Unfortunate if any truth in Unley rumour. A bit late for League to start rearranging fixtures now - looks like a 9 team Premier div? Downs chose to rest p...

Re: Silly Season
Modbury Jets splashing big cash on players, going to need it to be competitive in Div 1. I think you are referring to the fake jets aka modbury soccer club. Modbury Jets have won div 1 for the last 3 seasons Comparing Saturday Amateurs to Sunday amateurs is like compaing the SPL to the EPL. I don't...

Re: Nothing to see here.
We should rename the A League, which google constantly confuses with me looking for "a league", with something more descriptive, say, Australian Football League, AFL for short.
And we could call the SAASL, the Adelaide Football League, AFL for short.

I've heard a couple talking about starting up Collegiate sides, not sure if it's instead of SAASL or in addition to.

Yes but that's just caused by the poor performance of their A grade through the season, not the review of this C grade game.

Re: Nothing to see here.
The season finished 6 weeks ago, how does it take this long? People in the ARBE camp told me weeks ago the investigation is done with no outcome, 'deemed to not have breached anything' I suspect the League is hesitant to set a precedent, if they start investigating every report of questionable refe...

Re: Challenge Cup
Jets v Downs is going to be a spectacle. When is that one? Maybe next year - Jets are frauds, really shows that the Saturday comp is a farmers league  Played a real club and got touched up. Would've been a cricket score if they had to play the mighty UUUUUUDowns. Don't want to hear anyone ment...

Re: Nothing to see here.
Not the first time ARBE's had some very interesting officiating in their C grade home games over the years. Previously have witnessed - Linesman being sent off for telling the ref the home crowd was abusing him, keeper sent off for calmly questioning a penalty awarded, player sent off for 2 light ch...

Re: Referee Crisis
Showed a red card to a spectator. Good to have a ref but they need to not make basic errors in law. I've seen this happen multiple times in Amateur League games. The ref's in all instances have threatened to abandon match if the spectator doesn't comply, requesting the person either be 50m away fro...

Saturday 2-4 Sunday.
Hopefully next year they do it at the end of season as a round robin. Maybe CSL were in the same position but I know both Saturday and Sunday had player availablity issues, as players were either away or focused on winning their leagues.

Re: Phuket, Thailand International 5s & 7s tournaments
That is preseason dates for some SAASL these days. Who? I'm not aware of any SAASL club getting into things before January, excluding a few cultural clubs playing actual summer seasons. I played a bit of 7 a side with the locals on the "American football field" on the Patong esplanade, th...

pitch not hold up with the rain?? Yep, no good. Was there for the PHE vs Modbury Jets reserves game last year and saw several people putting a lot of work in to getting the top pitch ready for the A grade game vs Titans, seemed like they were pretty used to trying to turn a mud patch back in to a s...

Re: EPL 22/23
Agree that the Liverpool v Arsenal game was a great match to watch, it was loaded with skill, tackles and some top class saves. Arsenal had a plan to delay the game any time Liverpool looked to be gaining momentum and this was the only downside in what was otherwise fantastic viewing. I've got to d...

I forget the lady referee's name, but she deserves commendation for the way she deals with both players and crowds.

“On a home game we can vary from 100 to 300 spectators.” From what I've seen, they have maybe 30 supporters, so they're relying on the away crowd to make up the other 70-270 for this to be true, and I don't think any Saturday Div 1 club brings 270, Pitbulls and Modbury leading the away crowd number...
