Re: Goalkeeper Clearances

kicking into the wind i try to kick the ball of the ground, lower trajectory and little bit more control. with the wind i always try to give the first kick a good roost, then hopefully their defence will drop a little deeper allowing me for future kicks / or throws to hit the space infront of the at...

Re: Goalkeeper Clearances

PM, do you not discuss this with your defenders prior to playing with them, preference how you want the ball back to you? i know this doesnt always help but if you say to them "im a right footer, play the ball back in this are if you can" it might. one thing young GKs are tought in the aca...

Re: Round 4 Results

Premiers Cumby 6 : Sturt 4 Entertaining game having sturt up 4:2 in the second half and the young cumby squat came back kicking four excellent goals in a row to win. Div 2 Cumby 7 : Sturt 3 Good game from cumby using again some of their U17 Players. YOU DONT KICK GOALS IN FOOTBALL, you score them!!

Re: Goalkeeper Clearances

Throughout my playing days (albeit a while ago) I never once received any tuition on kicking for a goalkeeper. When I was 14 or so I could throw the ball over the half way line but could barely reach the same distance with my kicks. In one off season I spent a lot of solo time practising my kicking...

Re: Goalkeeper Clearances

research has shown that goalkeeper use their feet 60%+ of the time during the game when they have possesion of the ball. ball work is always included in my gk training sessions. it could be just a short pass + save or crosses with distribution. ultimately the gk themselves needs to practice kicking....

Re: Australia V Kuwait - 2night!

Something about keeping the same shirt number throughout the competition. Although 107 sounds ridiculous. i understand that, but how do you think the player feels knowing theres 100 players ahead of him in the pecking order, or what does it say to the public in terms of how strong the side is, i ju...

Re: Best Junior Club for Goalkeepers

why dont you look at the FFSA GK Development Centers. Located at Underdale.
Theres no more the 4 GKs per coach resulting in good quality training/coaching/education/ etc.

Ring Neil Tate 0401206974 for more info.

Re: A question for Junior coaches

Do you give your keepers specific training or do they just get shooting sessions to work on their keeping skills? And at what age are junior keepers getting technique training? Just interested. IMO, 13y.o+ should start to get technique training. kids are still growing into their bodies and even at ...

Botched Anthem

I found this funny, from BBC sport. "Croatia rose to the occasion in their crucial Euro 2008 defeat of England - after an apparent X-rated gaffe by an English opera singer at Wembley. Tony Henry belted out a version of the Croat anthem before the 80,000 crowd, but made a blunder at the end. He ...
