Re: SALISBURY UNITED JPL 2013 TRIALS

Will take a more of a scientific approach. Players will be required to get to level 12.5 on the Vo2 max, +40 verticle leap, less than 60mm for skin folds and the ability to do a minimum of 20 push ups and 50 situps.

This is all before players get the opportunity to trial.

If you haven't done a course in the last 2 years your out of date. Courses change and develop all the time. Already the new C course is different to the last one. It even now covers conditioning.

Re: 1-4-3-3

Theres too much emphasis on formation. Its the football philosophy that needs to change. Playing out from the back in a structured and purposeful way, theres nothing wrong with longer balls when theres a purpose to it also. Retaining possession and playing through midfield, switching the point of at...

Re: GK Shortage???

I think we have some excellent keepers in the years you have described, the question is "Why dont we have more?" Since Goalkeepers are different from pitch players, are we attracting enough of the kids with the appropriate attitude, skill set, physical parameters, and are they getting the...

You can teach them how to play #9 then ...
I can show them how to make decoy runs and create space for others while never actually touching the ball.

ZJ stop hijacking this topic, its a serious question. Is there a gk shortage?

GK Shortage???

Ive noticed quite a few clubs advertising for GKs to join various aged teams. Is there a GK shortage or a teams looking for better quality GKs?

Why not play a field player in goals? Especially at the younger age group?

Re: Trial Processes

i see what your saying clubman, but that process involves large number of kids and there is some sort of structure to that. theres probably up to 10 sets of eyes watching also.

how many kids would trail for a particular team at your club?

Trial Processes

So with clubs holding trials with in the next 4-8 weeks, I was wondering how are these trials run?
Is is simply a case of playing games and picking players from there? Do you just have a normal training session and select players from that??

Do you select the best players or the best team??

Re: How is stic training going?

Well they were on the pitch at least :) Generally all got half a game each in the 14's, some saw more action than others as is to be expected. thats right, and gks dont have to be involved in the action for them to be assessed either but it all depends what your looking at and what you want to see!

West (U14) also had a keeper from North. Funny system with keepers this year. actually, the system was pretty good this year with the gks. there were 29 odd gks all getting good game time, it didnt matter where they played as long as they did play! there was also 5 gk coaches there throughout the w...

No, just silently laughing at the shambles SSF has become. We are content, simple as that. SSF is simply a format of how football is played by children. Administering a competition or lack there of has nothing to do with SSF. People administer the competition and it has been the people that have no...

Who chooses those paths? Parents or kids? The kids don't really care about that, do they? I do feel I can comment unbiasedly as I have a foot in both camps. I'm not overly fussed with which association my boys play in but I do care that they enjoy themselves and that they have good quality coaches. ...
