Re: Big Sams first England squad
Wow, that's probably the worst England squad I have ever seen. Not saying that it's not the best squad they could pick, just lacks any world class quality. The success of the EPL seems to have been at the expense of the local players, will probably grind out the results needed to qualify, be overhy...

Re: Big Sams first England squad
So, what did you expect then? I'd take Barkley instead of Drinkwater and if you are going to pick Jagielka you could have picked Dann. Sturridge will be injured 2 days into the camp so he could have picked Rashford or even Defoe(bias showing) as Fat Sam was lauding his performance before Euros. of ...

Does anyone know what ‘repechage’ means?
All this week the commentators have been saying “And Great Britain qualify in first while Australia go into the repechage” Is it a special category for countries with an impressive post war medal count?

Re: Arsenal 2014/2015
Well for the near future at least, reduced to watching a delayed broadcast (and trying to avoid the result) and downloading Match of the Day. 3 – 4 you’d at least expect a decent game not that complete shite. With wenger still refusing to take any responsibility it’s hard to see a silver lining, jus...

Re: Media about children being turned away from Junior Socce
Eastern have 5 junior teams U12 – U17, Athelstone have 6 in E&D. About right for that small area given Campbelltown are just up the road.

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented
I don't see what the issue is. Clubs with two teams already have 30 man squads anyway. If the coaches of the club can't communicate then the buck stops with them. Yes there are 30 man squads - made up of 15 JPL and 15 JSL players in Under 12 to Under 16's at a number of clubs, but probably not all....

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented
Can’t really discuss 30 man squads without considering the role of jsl and obviously under the current set up it would be unworkable as the parents wouldn’t tolerate it for a start. Anyway 30 man, 15 man, what’s the difference? At the end of the day it still revolves around the same few kids getting...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented
From what I’ve seen, with just a couple of exceptions, most junior sides seem to function around a select 4 or 5 players only at best and consequently they participate with a degree of certainty with no upward pressure to challenge them. A thin pool is made even thinner by taking out the supposed be...

Can’t see the relevance of Euro 96 to this thread or even how that article is gushing about it. However if you really need to compare, I can still remember a fair bit of 96 can anyone remember anything from the comp a couple of weeks ago. Euro 96 included Bergkamp, Hagi, Stoichkov, Zidane, Shearer, ...

Re: Euro 2016 finals
So the Euros has been reduced to this, God help us. Backwater football leagues like wales, NI, ROI, italy, albania etc. stack their sides with foreigners from footballing powers, keep 10 men behind the ball and defend, defend, defend. Wouldn’t cross the road to see that rubbish, rather watch Div. 2....

Leicester fans getting edgy in more ways than one.
One cashed out last week for £29,000 and just before the Watford game another one who was looking at a £250,000 payout from Ladbrokes cashed out for £72,000. It would have gone up to £91,000 if he’d waited till after the game too. Cash in or let it ride? Would it be too daft to turn down a guarantee...
