submission is tomorrow. I would probably allow one week for draft then a couple of weeks for the final structure. Fixtures will probably be out in the last week of Feb.limozeen wrote:So anyone know when clubs had to finalize their JSL team submissions and when they intend to release the league details?

Re: Aussie Rules Junior Fees
The handouts local footy clubs get, this is no surprise. Agree, is that from AFL? if so, our problems come from FFA not supporting juniors? AFL and all forms of government (therefore ratepayers and taxpayers). At least with AFL some funds trickle down to grass roots, unlike our sport. not forgettin...

Re: Junior League Structures
Fair few u17 teams this year. Wonder if the quality will improve. I saw 3 half games of u17 in 2018 and they were not a particularly high standard. 18’s is not for everyone, some players want to go down the amateur path. I know lots of our 17’s turned down 18’s as they didn’t want the additional tr...

The FFSA allows any club to request a movement in divisions. Whether the request is approved is based on response from other clubs.

Re: most successful junior club 2018 ?
I'd like to see how many home grown players were in each teams first team last year. That would be a good way to judge the success of juniors. It would not only show the development of players but also show the club has the culture right as players are staying. That would be a great stat but my gue...

Pick the best coach. Dont worry about what "division" the team plays in. Your sons development will occur predominately through the information he is receiving during the week at training. Never pick the club, Never pick the division.. Always pick the coach. And if you don't know the coac...

Re: U18s JSL competition
You get a sharp drop off from the older players playing U18's (17 year olds). It could be a combination of birds, booze and also the realisation that they ain't making reserves next year. This is where players drop out of the game and this is the reason why younger players are being used.

Re: U18s JSL competition
There's only one 18's or 17's team per club. Plenty of kids get rejected and never play again. Are you recommending they create more 18's or 17's team per club? I'm suggesting U18 play as juniors on a Sunday. Currently 16s is good but 17s is a rubbish comp. Too many clubs are playing kids in 15-16 ...

Re: U18s JSL competition
There are a lot of hacks in the Collegiate & Amateur divisions and that puts off 16-20 yr olds. I played Sunday Div 2 amateurs at 19 and remember how rough and unskilled some players were and the referees did little to protect the ball players. I would hope its changed for the better. I still r...

Re: U18s JSL competition
Amateurs U20 Competition? Cover the transition from FFSA U16s to U20s (U18s & Reserves) when they leave the game forever in many cases. Less serious, more fun, less cost compared to FFSA cash cow clubs, less training, etc Place in the Collegiate or Sat/Sun Amateurs competitions. From there they...

So what are we expected to pay now???? 8) $1400 But you get new lights ! Re: U18s JSL competition
Bringing this topic back. I dont really agree with u18s JSL comp, however I do believe U17s should be an important competition and be the u18s reserve team. Im amazed that so many clubs treat this competition as a money maker and not a crucial part of development for the next group of 18s to come t...
