Re: Liverpool sign Greek International - Kyrgiakos

He is very good. I saw every game he played @ AEK last season. Will win everything in the air, will win most tackles on the ground, plays rough and plays with a lot of gusto. Very good to throw forward for a corner. His flaw would be playing the ball out of defence. I dont see why not he cant force...

Re: Junior Cup Finals - Results & Reports

Thanks for the U15s report. From the regular season PH play the nicest soccer but seem to have a problem beating Modbury despite being the better team (certainly best midfield in the U15 comp IMO) PS. Not with either team so impartial observer Which is funny because it's the one team they'd really ...

Re: Spurs v LFC

How we have not purchased a new striker in the off season is absolutely beyond me... Still miffed about why we released crouch - but that's another discussion altogether. I watched the game this morning and we had nothing. Spurs deserved the win and we need to sharpen up if we are to challenge for ...

deserved loss, no depth on the bench. vorinin should of had a penalty but cabernet happens. team looks rusty but good to see johnson look decent and eventually win us the penalty If the Fat Waiter is relying on getting pens to score, they're in for a long year. Pool hardly created a chance from ope...

I think it's a case of either you can or you can't coach, but you get better with the more experience you attain. There is a lot involved in coaching, i.e. people management, skill development, personal development, tactics, game structure, education, and so on. But to me the most important thing i...

Re: Under 11 Comets Coach , Massive Tool

I didn't see the incident as my two boys are now a bit older but, in general, it's a real fine line that coaches have to tread between being uselessly soft and overly tough. Swearing at the younger kids is obviously not on, but the attitude of some parents that their kids are superstars already and ...

Re: European attendances for 08/09 season.

Firstly, Germany have the stadia to accommodate larger crowds thanks to the World Cup upgrades. Plus, with over 150% of England's population (82m versus 52m) and less games played (34 versus 38), it's not really that surprising that they get bigger crowds. I have no doubt that Manure would get 100k ...

Re: JPL U17 cup final : Adelaide Blue Eagles vs Para Hills

Just out of interest, now that the Knights U16s are out of the Cup, is there anything to stop them bring some of the 16s players up to the 17s for the final? They've got a few pretty decent players in the 16s but whether that would be fair to the boys that have played all season for the 17s is the q...

Re: Top Corner Sports JPL Cup Final

Lol that seems to be the mentality in South Australia you get these coaches that all they can think about is Winning at all costs not about how the players played and the skill that was showed whether it was poor or not It's the mentality of a good senior coach (it's their job to win and install a ...

I cannot stand parents who only care about winning or their 'little Johnny' (or in this case Giovanni) scoring. A bloke I know has always paid his kids when they score. Consequently the wretched child now shoots from the corner flag - great coaching Dad! (not me or mine I hasten to add) Let the coac...

U16s Cumberland beat Hills Hawks on pens. 1-1 at full time and aet. Deserved winners. Heard cumberland dropped a cup tied player so may get disqualified. I'd be surprised. I think their 17s conceded the first round of the cup due to player shortages so unless any of them played for the 19s it would...

Re: Loss of Potential Talent due to Relative Age Effect (RAE)

I think The Boss is right. I'm sure it goes on all over the World but it seems to me that, in a lot of cases, Australian football (soccer) still has a footy (Rules) mentality where physical size and fitness are paramount in the coaches' minds when selecting players. I'm not saying that those attribu...
