Re: Sol warns of Racism at Euros

I wonder if the Polish cops are over-reacting a bit with their assertions in the English-language Krakow Post? They're warning hooligans, racists & trouble makers that they'll come down like a bag of anvils at any sign of hassling. They say, amongst other things they have an array of weapons lik...

Re: SOCCEROOS v Japan

Its a shame the game wasn't played in Melbourne 40,000 is an ok crowd but would have got 70,000 plus in Melbourne In a oval stadium? No thanks! Agree, MG & Son. But maybe if they had held it in the reconfigurable-to-a-rectangle Olympic (ANZ) stadium in Sydney, I still reckon they might have got...

Re: Sepp wants penalties gone

No easy answer on this dilemma too. On one hand it could be pointed out that penalty-taking is a skill and they should be retained & perhaps it should go straight to penalties after 90 mins without extra-time. On the other hand, the proposal to reward the team that scores first is interesting. A...

Re: Faking injuries dangerous: top referee

Top thing by Howard Webb to raise this emotional issue. Surely it will resonate with some serial fakers' conscience! I see your point Ozzie Owl, but like I've discussed with Bomber and others, doesn't that disadvantage the team down to 10 players for 3, 4 or 5 minutes? During that time it will be li...

Re: The Mother Of All Derbies

Play-offs don't decide winners. Third place at best. I like your arguement ConM, honestly but I agree with Blueblood. And... If it ain't broke, don't try and 'fix' it. Why, thanks for dat, Squizzy. And because there's years of tradition to respect, I agree it not gonna change. Almost makes y...

Re: The Mother Of All Derbies

Nothing like it. Which is why they won't call it that... That and they are opposed to it, of course. But they don't mind having exciting play-offs @ Wembley for the 2nd & other divisions, eh Squizzy? You're right of course - it won't happen. But just daydream for a half-second Squizzy: The EPL ...

Re: The Mother Of All Derbies

You could almost call it the EPL's Grand Final, which the English are so opposed to.

Re: CL Final - I await the announcement

I couldn't care less about who wins. I'm not a bayern or chelsea supporter but the principal is here. What of their own rules will they break next? I think you mean principle , as in not principal like a school-master, God-used-to-be-an-Englishman. Like the principle that Englishmen were glad to se...

Re: CL Final - I await the announcement

I hate this but I agree 100% with GIAE You're faaarken kidding, Nicky Tanner! So, wot would God-used-to-be-an-Englishman have said about England playing ALL their matches @ Wembley in '66? Including a semi-final match that was reversed from Liverpool to Wembley along the way to the World Cup Final....

Re: Chelsea vs Barca

Love the way Barca plays. But better for the game's profile here in OZ with the mainstream media only noticing if an English-named team is in the Final.

With the Final in Munich probably better too that Bayern get past Real Madrid.

London Olympics draw decided - opportunity missed

The 'if only' time is gone, but what an opportunity missed by the Olyroos & Matildas to lift the profile of the game at the London party! The Matildas deserved to be there in the USA, France & Colombia group instead of the drug cheat weirdos of North Korea. And what a group the Olyroos would...
