Re: Adelaide United Keeper Quits Club
This is what you get in a one team town. No choice. aufc have the monopoly on he w league in SA. If players had a real alternative in a team that commits to the w league team will aufc be the club of choice? Nothing has changed in the 10 or s years the w league has been a part (on and off) of aufc. ...

Re: Season review to date
Only relegation I would make is to remove NTC asap. They survived relegation last year. Albeit they are now out of the relegation zone, a club based team deserves to be in the WNPL.
Finals are coming

Season review to date
Round 12/ year to date wrap (sort of) City, Westies and Inter do enough to retain their spots on the ladder. Is it all for City to win? Only team that can beat City is themselves. Player power to depose of Max may have confirmed the team’s high opinion of themselves. Self-managed for now and results...

Re: Player Power vs Club decision
Sportsbird I'm not sure the clubs will take up the selection of 10 AC players to AU or FF SA. Why would clubs be concerned at selection? Is you concern about AC becoming the club of choice? The way I see it AC is currently at where Pezos wanted it to be with AC: Come to AC and you'll be a chance for...

Re: Season 2020
I've heard the same thing. I believe the discontent started right from when he was appointed. If the standard has been set and player power prevails then you've got to be prepared for what comes next. The anger or disapproval should not be directed at Max. He didn't appoint himself to the job. Inter...

Re: Season 2020
Baggio I think you've supported the argument in the question you ask: Inequity and sexism. To remunerate and not the other is inequitable. The other long standing and stupid discussion is about self sufficiency (gate takings etc). no one team gets enough through those means to pay its over paid npl ...

Re: Season 2020
I agree Brewie. It's all good whilst the team continues to win however, as we have seen in past seasons, all it takes is an event that results in players exiting and it all falls flat. The only constant is the leadership of the club, committee and coaching panel. If players are the catalyst here the...

Re: Season 2020
Max gone from City. Conflicting reasons Manton Street Tribe tweet states that the club has cited personal reasons for his resignation. Adelaide now states difference of opinion. Put the two together and you get "Max has resigned from his coaching position citing a difference of opinions that we...

Shout out to all
Hope everyone is tracking well and that you are all safe and well. And are practising social distancing and minimising outings. If we do, we'll be back playing soon and we can all get on with our daily lives and appreciate what we're doing without.
Keep safe friends.

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Interesting post Sportsbird. The issue may in part be attributable to Ivan however, the buck stops with AUFC. What are they prepared to provide in the way of financial and other support. In this regard I can answer this without being privy to AUFC. “No extra funding”. FSA will need to top up the sho...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Thanks Marinos. You brought a smile. Jizz. Point is that the local men's league have clubs that over pay their players. Good if you can get it. And its unsustainable through income derived from gate takings and sponsors. Where the money comes from is clear to see. Pretty naïve for you to ask me for ...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Pretty naïve for you to ask me for names of clubs who do. I think you would be far better asking who doesn’t. Given my experience represents a small sample size, junior and women’s fees have bolstered the men’s game fees. Ask yourself, up until recent times, how many players in the WNPL were getting...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Hey Sportsbird. Excellent post and you raise a lot of things I've always supported and suggested needs doing. Again as I said in a another post, A League is a very poor and soulless competition> Standard is appalling and sadly W league teams will get Zero by way of support. Look at the local WNPL/NP...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
I've also accepted that even the A League has fallen down the list with AFL-W taking its spot. This isn't a cheap shot at you however, the facts are that I haven't been to an A League game in 5 years. And even then it was an excruciating 90 minutes at Adelaide Oval. For mine Men's soccer at the high...

Re: Season 2020 - Player Movements
Welcome back Maria. Genuine star player whom is talented beyond belief. Highest paid player in the WNPL? I would think yes. When she was with Uni, interestingly under Tracey, she was a highly paid player. A few years on the Tracey/Maria team has re-emerged. I’ve heard figures like $3k per month bein...

Re: Lady Reds - Wooden Spooners
Sad and embarrassed. I've never questioned the commitment or endeavours of the players. It's a hard road back from here. Visa players of quality will not want to come here. Those we will get are here for the $$$ or due to a lack of another better option. It's not a coaching matter. It's the inabilit...

Re: Mitise PreSeason CUP round 2
a agree and there is no argument with remuneration. I advocate for this to occur. As a recruiting strategy it's questionable. Why should clubs be angered by Comets putting money into their roster? I understand that all-women's clubs, without a men's club's finances, will be challenged. But just as t...

Re: Not long before AUFC-W season ends
The W League is NOT a development tool used to validate the NTC program. What does validate the program is the integration of NTC players into the mainstream WNPL. Most would agree that the transition to WNPL from NTC is problematic. I could only imagine the huge STEP from NTC to W League. I think t...
