Re: Arsenal 2014/2015

Alternatively if Manchester City win the Champions League, then 5th place in the Premier League this season will enter the competition (unless Liverpool also win the Europa League)

Re: West Ham stadium deal

My understanding is that it was a competitive tendering process, and the alternative would have been a white elephant. West Ham are only allowed an initial quota of 25 competitive games per event year. For competitive matches, the rent is £100,000 per game (the same figure for each additional compet...

Denying a goalscoring opportunity no longer an auto sendoff

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36047575 Players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent off, football's rule-making body has confirmed. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award o...

Re: Foxtel signs football deal with beIN Sports!!!

ps, any forumite know if this is a reaction by Foxy TV losing the EPL to Octopus? Well, they were spending around $25m (unsure if per season or over 3 years, so maybe $8m per season?) on the EPL rights previously, so they are probably subsidising the cost of your beIN subscription and making it ava...

More football which is easily accessible is never a bad thing. I believe we will now only have 2 subscription services for all football access. 1. Optus for EPL (final details including pricing yet to be announced) 2. Fox Sports for A-League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Champions League/E...

Didn't realise it was new, single club teams being put in Div 4! They should definitely start in a single team division if that's the case.

Re: Time for the SAASL to get tough on Clubs?

I totally agree that clubs with two teams in separate single team leagues should be TOLD by the league that they need to play in Div 4 as they can field two teams Whilst this is fine in theory, you have the following situation. A club with 4 teams has an A/B/C team in Division 1/5 or 2/6, and their...

Re: Time for the SAASL to get tough on Clubs?

My point is WHY should there be a NEED for any clubs to be in this position? Can you tell me you would be happy at your club to find out that a player you would be playing half the amount of games as the others , because the SAASL can't sort out the divisions properly :?: :?: It's 2 less games. 16 ...

Those 39 matches of the 2018 World Cup which WON'T be on SBS include: 15 Matchday 1 or Matchday 2 Group Games 12 Final Group Stage Games (Remembering that you'll have 4 games on a single day at 2 kickoff times, but it is likely some of these will be dead rubbers involving 3rd vs 4th in a group on a...

Re: Extra time

I doubt that "data" would ever be a neat 50/50 in any case. Bit like tossing a coin 100 times - possible, but unlikely you'd get a 50/50 outcome. That is where significance levels come in If you assume an unbiased coin (like we would assume no bias in a penalty shootout), the probability ...

There's no problem with penalty shootouts as a mechanism for determining a tie. The problem is that it is so heavily weighted toward the team that wins the toss and goes first.
