Re: Old Football

I've got a video of the 1953 FA Cup Final when Blackpool beat Bolton - the 'Matthews Final'. It was the first game of football I can remember seeing - I was about 3 and a bit at the time and we were the first in our street to have a TV - all the neighbours were crammed into our front room in awe of ...

Re: Keane Signs For Liverpool - Official

$20 million for Keane? Now I know why Liverpool haven't won the league for so long - they keep throwing money away on crap! Keane is like that other over-rated "star" Darren Fuckerme". These players always start off a nd score like it's going out of fashion for the first few games and...

Re: Football in the Olympics

The reality is that the Olympics need Football more than football needs the Olympics. Football is the sport that makes the Olympics pay. It attracts 45% of the spectators and 55% of the money from ticket sales. Few of the major sponsors would be involved if not for football. It's only real value is ...

Serves them right! Now they know how it feels when self-interest comes before loyalty. After all, they voted in favour of the same rules being applied against Leeds Utd last season, like every other club in the league. The vote against Leeds was unanimous so they deserve everything they get! :...

Re: 1966 & 1974 World Cups Were Fixed - Former FIFA President

It's all a load of crap anyway. FIFA has always been corrupt and has always tried to influence the outcome of the World cup to csuit it's political leanings at the time. How else do you explain the Germans always doing so well when the only really class team they had was with Beckenbaur. Every time ...

Re: Italian football in decline? You cannot be serious!

There is no doubt that the EPL is the best and most entertaining club competition at the moment. Their success at European level is proof of that but it has come at the cost of the national team. Whereas Italian Serie A football is in a transitional phase at the moment and therefore not as successfu...

Re: McDonald extends Celtic contract.

I haven't been too impressed with his performances for Australia.

I admit he is playing a different role for us but he didn't seem to be able to make the transition very well.

A true striker should be able to play in a variety of roles.

Pretty stupid thing to do.

Given the money they'd be on, they can hardly plead poverty as an excuse!

If they're found guilty, I hope they throw the book at them.

Re: Athelstone

Of course you can be off-side from a goal kick.
If you are 'interfering with play' - that is if the ball comes close to you - you are off-side.
Otherwise attacking players would be taking up positions in the penalty area!

Get yourself a copy of "The Laws of the Game".

Isn't it amazing though how well the Swedes do at International level?

Even though individually they lack quality, they always seem to perform well for their country.

No wonder Swedish Meat balls are a favourite meal in the UK.

Re: France 1 England 0

Let's face it, Capello hasn't got that much to choose from. There is a distinct lack of quality English players around and those who are of the quality required consistently fail to impress at International level. They seem to lack the desire to lift themselves and play with their hearts for their c...

Re: China vs Australia

Given the group results to date, the other teams are going to have to come out and attack Australia, if they hope to qualify for the next stage, which plays into our hands. We know that Qatar offers little opposition for us which means that Iraq and China can not afford to drop any points from now o...

There's nothing wrong with English football that scrapping the FA and replacing it with a body that represents the players and the supporters wouldn't fix. The signing of Juan Rodriguez as coach ahs made a few think again about leaving.

Goldie is staying as he can't be bothered driving too far to training.
Hayes is staying as well.

The problem with Newcastle is with the culture within and around the club. Almost every good player that has gone there in the last ten years has seen their caree...
