Love the Inter fans chant on way to stadium 'City cheats, F... off, cheats, f... off'!

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
Fun fact
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has also trusted in Sterling for their first Champions League match of the season away at Atalanta, bringing him on in the second half of the goalless draw.
And by stepping onto the pitch on 72 minutes at the Gewiss Stadium, the 29-year-old has achieved a feat that had never been reached before.
Sterling has become the first player to play for four different English clubs in the history of the Champions League.

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
Very good performance from Celtic and they are beginning to look like a proper team again. Too early to get overly excited at this level as they face sterner tests, especially on their travels. That said Rodgers has the team hounding the opposition down when not in possession and Daizen Maeda epitomises this. If he could show more composure in front of goal and when crossing (sometimes wasteful), he would command a huge transfer fee. He is still relatively young and under Rodgers
he could improve further.
Always said that success for Celtic in the CL is reaching the second stage of the competition and the new format (plus the favourable draw) certainly improves their chances of achieving this.

Watched the highlights. Very piss poor defending and brilliant goals. GK had no chance.

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
-2 goals but more importantly we still have 3 points, not that bad after two CL games. At this rate we will qualify for the next stage with 12 points and -25 goals!Popeye Magoo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 11:24 amHow's their goal difference now?thebeautifulgame wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 6:18 pmVery good performance from Celtic and they are beginning to look like a proper team again. It's still a joke that you can waltz into this league when we beat you home and away and still have to go through a host of qualifying rounds.

I wholeheartedly agree with you- but I don't make the rules up or the coefficient of each country competing in the European club competitions.Bodø Glimt wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:18 am It's still a joke that you can waltz into this league when we beat you home and away and still have to go through a host of qualifying rounds.
Some big bucks to be made in the CL- even if you are bang average. The down side is the amount of games to be played-
not sure this will be sustainable in future years.

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
Personally I think Celtic have more right to be there than the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and the other non champions in there. On a side note, can we play Portuguese teams every week? We've beaten Porto and Braga now.

In the Champions League, teams are awarded €2.1 million for a win and €700,000 for a draw.

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
Gutsy performance by Celtic away to Atalanta to earn a 0-0 draw. Wouldn't think many people would have expected that result (myself included).
Four points from three games is pretty decent but let's not get carried away. Biggest plus for me was that Rodgers took heed
of the mauling by Dortmund and drastically changed the shape and mentality of the team. He hoodwinked the media by
stating he wouldn't change his tactics in the CL- it is heartening to know that they are capable of a clean sheet away from
home against quality opposition.
Rode our luck at times but we showed desire and commitment to get something from the game- well done bhoys!

Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
With Rodri missing and an old midfield, with KDB not looking fully fit, their defence is exposed and it's not as good as it was. Walker is definitely slowing.
Still very good players and still a very good team, but looking jaded.

Is what is playing out behind the scenes taking its toll on the playing group..?? None of them want to play Championship football next yearNice One Cyril wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 7:13 amWith Rodri missing and an old midfield, with KDB not looking fully fit, their defence is exposed and it's not as good as it was. I wouldn't be writing them off just yet. They got done 4-0 by Spurs, but Haaland hit the bar and had two decent efforts saved. They were 3-0 and cruising last night and somehow let it slip. It's just not falling for them at the moment.haywood djablowme wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:35 amIs what is playing out behind the scenes taking its toll on the playing group..?? Re: UEFA Champions League 24/25
Celtic got a decent result with the 1-1 draw v Club Brugge after trailing to a crazy own goal by Carter-Vickers. Many will say it is points dropped at home, but in my book it could prove to be a valuable point in their quest to qualify to the next phase of the competition. By all reports, Club Brugge deservedly lead at half-time and Celtic improved in the second half. Think both teams will be fairly happy with a point- Celtic in 20th and Club Brugge in 22nd position, so both still in with a shout of progressing.
Main thing for me is not winning the competition as that is beyond us- but competing at this level is the most satisfying aspect- especially after being dismantled by Dortmund a few weeks ago. Credit must go to Rodgers that he has not allowed his team to wilt at this level. For this reason, I am one happy bhoy!
