Re: Rugby tactics for the goal keeper
I assume you mean a team-mate(s)/defender(s) lifting their goalkeeper to aid a higher jump? If so this would be deemed to be unsporting behaviour and an indirect free-kick would be awarded in favour of the attacking side. It could also result in a caution to the player(s) lifting the goalkeeper (depending on severity of offence and the interpretation of the referee). Either way this is not acceptable behaviour and should never be ignored by the referee.
Hope this helps.

Re: Rugby tactics for the goal keeper
Why would you want to? Surely a keeper who is agile and free to move left or right is worth more than one who is who is hindered by a team mate keeping him off the ground. Furthermore a team mate doing this for a free kick will be playing everyone onside.Steve#4 wrote:Is it Illegal to lift the Goal keeper on a corner or free kick like they do in a line out in the Rugby?
A friend will help you move. A good friend will help you move a body.

Re: Rugby tactics for the goal keeper
I agree Crue Head, it is hardly worth the bother- by the time you thought about it the ball would most likely be in the back of the net but give Steve #4 some slack as crazy things do happen in games (beach ball on park during Liverpool game last season for example).
P.S. Loved the last line or two about the friend- class!

It was just a discussion we were having after training and a few beers.Crue Héad wrote:Why would you want to? If you watch a lineout the jumpers aren't hindered at all, they are trained to follow the flight of the ball and react accordingly.
Plenty of corner kicks are aimed at the back post or back of the pack, lifting a goalie would cut this off.
Since it is against the rules that puts an end to the debate.
