Sad news, RIP Gary Speed
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas.

Yeah read this last night, shocking news. RIP. A Welsh legend.
You have to wonder what would possesses a guy with 2 sons etc to think it was bad enough that he though he had no choice but to end it all.... I know I could NEVER do that to my son.
I'm not meaning to be disrespectful here, just the thought process here boggles the mind.
Maybe something happened in his personal life that was just about to be uncovered by the press? (ala Ryan Giggs/John Terry etc)

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Depression is an illness, not just a state of mind. Chemical imbalances in the brain amongst other things can cloud your thinking and distort your view of the world until you can be tricked into thinking that killing yourself would be best for everyone around you.Blotto wrote:Yeah read this last night, shocking news. RIP Gary Speed
A great loss to the game.
With Gary in mind, find the friend, colleague or team mate around you who is growing a mo for Movember and donate. 1 in 8 Australian men suffer from depression at some point in their lives. Money raised by Movember goes towards beyondblue, which raises awareness about depression and seeks to overcome the stigma that sees many men too ashamed to seek help.

Vale Gary Speed - a legend in the game and a great man cut down in his prime by the Black Dog.ruud wrote:agreeARodgers wrote:Depression is an illness, not just a state of mind. As someone who has suffered from depression for many years, I can tell you that it is a totally unpredictable disease.
One minute you can be top of the world and looking forward to everything life has to offer - the next you can be in the depths of depression wishing you were dead and verging on suicide.
Medication only helps if you take it, even when you are feeling well and in control as you can go years without depressive symptoms then all of a sudden the world crashes down on you - the tablets don't cause you any long-term problems as long as you ensure your tablet and dosage is spot on for you.
There are lots of different drugs available and you need to get specialist advice and monitoring to ensure you are getting everything you need.
Thanks to my specialist I am now on a very low dose tablet that keeps me balanced and in control but it took a few years to get it right.
The older I get the better I was.
