Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
After Premier League giants Liverpool spunked millions of pounds up the wall on sub-standard players during previous transfer windows, the club are considering locking their network of scouts in a cupboard under the stairs until February 1st.
Having spent £309.5m on transfers over the last five years, concerns have grown amongst the club’s hierarchy that their scouting network’s criteria for identifying transfer targets consists of finding anyone that owns a pair of football boots and two partially functioning legs.
Reports suggesting that Kenny Dalglish was considering tabling a bid of £27m for Swindon Sunday League Division 5 side FS Swindon’s talismanic striker Charlie Knowles, has set alarm bells ringing in the club’s boardroom.
Knowles, who has scored an impressive 15 goals in 12 starts, including a brace in FS Swindon’s last outing against Save On Tyres Athletic, was surprised at the development.
“The gaffer pulled me to one side after training at St Joseph’s School, and told me that Liverpool were interested in signing me,”
Knowles went on, “Obviously I didn’t believe him at first, but I spoke with Mr Dalglish on the phone and he said that I was just what he was looking for, which he revealed as being anyone who isn’t Andy Carroll.”
Kenny Dalglish has refuted claims that the club’s scouts having got a single clue between them by insisting that they study a vast amounts of DVDs to identify transfer targets.
“Our chief scout has watched Escape to Victory about twelve times and we’re looking at the possibility of signing Sylvester Stallone, and we think Michael Caine’s strong leadership skills will be an asset to the club,” he said.

Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
Sadly Jimbob used to post vaguely amusing stuff, he is obviously on a new kids forum and pastes trash from there (he is from Derby BTW) this needs to be remembered, as he likes to make out he is a true Manc.
I am impressed he comes on here still, he only usually shows his face after a LFC loss and a UTD win.......

Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
Which signings of Dalglish's have been flops exactly?
Bellamy, Enrique, Adam, Suarez are all what could be considered under-valued signings.
Downing was over-priced, however is by no means a flop.
Carroll is 23, and Henderson is 21. Whilst we paid a lot, their best years are ahead of them and won't be moved on any time soon.

Don't react to idoitic posts, it encourages them to come back with more rubbish.

Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
Given the amount of money that Man United have spent on a keeper that can't catch (DeGea), a defender that can't defend (Jones) and the aforementioned Bebe, they would be the ones that should assess the effectiveness of their scouting department.

Why would we wanna piss off our star striker?

John Barnes (it took an exceptional talent to make the list) aside , things ARE, historically, a little lopsided.

wow Kop , thought you were better than resorting to the name calling stuff
I am sure the same list is available from other sources , it is what it is , is it not?
the redcafe was the first place that came up with a list when i googled "Kenny Dalglish signings",
btw is there something inaccurate about the list ?
given that you have resorted to schoolyard name calling , rather than the usual reasonably solid argument ,
i am thinking probably not ..
take a bit more time and maybe you can come up with something with a bit more substance
maybe E -football can come with something to help you out seeing as how you are obviously struggling a little.

I am genuinley lost, what is that list showing and what am I going to help with?
Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
I’m simply stunned you’re trying to prove a link between Dalglish backing his player who vehemently denies intending racism and a coincidence that he’s rarely signed black players.vertu1 wrote:The Kop wrote:ahhhhhh redcafe is where your agenda is borrowed from.

Stunned. Name calling is warranted in this instance!
Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
It's likely I'm going to get blasted but in all honesty if you go back a few years when Liverpool were top 4 year after year most of their recent signings aren't even close to the standard that they had been linked with back then. That's a given, they don't offer Champions League anymore and are no longer synonymous with English titles, not to mention Kenny's strict British or no-sign policy.
The only reason he signed Carrol was because he's English, he was a great player for Newcastle and he's still young but he again isn't a player Liverpool would've signed years ago. Great English strikers are so far non existent aside from Wayne Rooney, I can think of a few strikers who would've lived up to that £35 million price tag all of whom are foreign to Great Britain.
Manchester City are the only side who have broken the trend of signing superstars without a trophy cabinet to back them and the reason why the players all signed was clearly money, if Liverpool want to become the club that they were and should be I think they need to break the bank and sign the big players who are consistently linked with the Barcelona's, Real Madrid's, Manchester City's etc. Might all sound obvious and it probably hasn't happened because it's not that easy but I think Liverpool have the money behind the club to do it.

Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
It's now they need to start chasing the worlds best players so they can get to where they want to be, then they can go out and sign the young players they can develop like Henderson and Carrol etc
Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
How does signing Enrique, Coates and Doni fit in with the no Brit no sign policy?
Infact, he signed as many Brits as he did not Brits in the summer tfr winder.
The media is a dangerous manipulative tool.
Competition for world class players is greater than 10 or 20 years ago.
Now there’s 6 vying for the best, before City and Tottenham spent money it was 4, before Abramovich came along 3 and so on.
You could make the same argument about all top 4 sides before it became a top 6.
The club invested a lot of capital in the academy. It will pay off in the coming years.

Re: Liverpool consider locking scouts away!
My question to Liverpool fans is.
Is Kenny good enough to manage Liverpool now ?
Houllier and Benitez were both excellent football managers, i guess i just wonder if he's as good.
I'm not trolling at all, i'd be interested to know if you think he's good enough.

Why wouldn’t he be good enough.
On one hand people say the club is not what is used to be and on the other we’ve got ppl speculating that a successful manager with a good record already may not be at the levels of……Houllier. Pls be jokin bro.
You couldn’t make this stuff up.
