Man City a bloody embarrassment

Post by Nice One Cyril »

Not exactly a good advert for the EPL. Couldn't even get into the Europa League

Man City out, Arsenal second in their group which means they will get a decent team next round and Chelsea on the brink.

Man Utd the only outstanding performer from the EPL, but they could get Real in the next round!!!

I wouldn't call it a 'bloody embarrassment' and I'm not that surprised to see them not making it through. The problem is that for all the money they spent, they still relied heavily on yaya toure who looks exhausted already.

Neither did Man Utd in 2005/06 in what was an easier group at the time.

City are now officially the WORST English side in Champions League history after failing to record a single victory at the group stage.

Mancini for the chop?

Now Chelsea pay the price for poor home result to Donetsk at home.

First time ever the holders have failed to progress past the group stage......

England won't be worrying for quite some time. Italy needs to catch up quite up quite a bit on their UEFA coefficient to go down to 3 CL places, although Germany will overtake them in the coming season.

With clubs over Europe now starting to rival the EPL for financial muscle, maybe time for EPL clubs to look at developing players through their academies.

The less games in the competition, the more likely a lesser team is to win.

If you upgrade to a CD player or even better MP3 you will find the quality better and you also won't have to worry about the needle sticking on the vinyl anymore.

First they need to get a decent amount of coaches. Last I heard England had a quarter of the qualified coaches Germany and Spain have. Personally letting EPL clubs play reserve sides in lower leagues is an answer. As with Spain they let clubs have B sides play up to the equivilent of League 1.
Seems to have worked fairly well for Barca who have had players like:
Xavi Hernández
Carles Puyol
Víctor Valdés
Guillermo Amor
Andrés Iniesta
Sergi Barjuán
Pep Guardiola
Francisco Carrasco
José Vicente Sánchez
Lionel Messi
Albert Ferrer
Antonio Olmo
Sergio Busquets
Gabri García
Oleguer Presas
Bojan Krkić
Thiago Motta
Gerard López
Iván de la Peña
Carles Busquets
Roger García
Albert Celades
Óscar García
Juan Carlos Rojo
Paco Clos
Luis Milla
Thiago Alcântara
Ángel Pedraza
Paco Fortes
Jordi Cruyff
Cristóbal Parralo
Pepe Reina
Giovani dos Santos
Sergi López
Luis García
Francesc Arnau
Cristian Tello
Jeffrén Suárez
Fernando Navarro
Salvador García
All come through their B side

no bottle of shiraz way!

What about the supporters of those teams in the lower divisions? I'm sure crewe supporters want to support crewe, not stoke reserves.

The problem with Man City is not that they aren't good enough, it's that they haven't yet worked out how to adapt from the style of football played in the EPL to the football played in the ECL every other week.

Once they learn to adapt quickly they will improve markedly.
The older I get the better I was.

Does anybody know why Man City have 3 stars on their crest?

I was under the opinion it was 1 star for every Champions league game they have won! Anybody with any other answers?
