Champions League draw

Post by Nice One Cyril »

Uefa Champions League last 16 draw:

Galatasaray v Schalke

Celtic v Juventus

Arsenal v Bayern Munich

Shakhtar Donetsk v Borussia Dortmund

AC Milan v Barcelona

Real Madrid v Manchester United

Valencia v Paris St Germain

Porto v Malaga

Some good ones there. Tough for Celtic, Arsenal and Man Utd.

Considering a semi final usually contains 4 teams that would be impressive

Wish we were playing Madrid now, they're in all sorts of strife. They make Chelsea look like a well run club.

They'll probably have got their act together by February knowing our luck. Should be a cracking tie

If we can get our defence together then I'm confident. Will be good to see Ronaldo back home.
Barca will smash Milan who are useless
And I think Munich n arsenal is another good one

As soon as Madrid got pulled, I knew we'd play them, why would God give us an easy draw n give us Malaga?
Still would be a great tie

Don't you guys normally get Celtic?

Good that you've got a decent team to play against. Rooney will be key for united, if he turns up they'll have a chance.

Probably some good odds on RVP getting mauled by Pepe too.

I honestly think we'll win comfortably. I'm just glad we avoided Barca or a German team.

Real Madrid to win. Man u finally get a tough game before the semi s. Juve should account for Celtic but the home crowd at celtic will be crazy .

I think you have the term "crazy" confused with "retarded", not that there's too much difference.

i think its an awesome draw for us, italian football has been on the decline, juve have played some good stuff and a midfield with marchisio and pirlo is very good, and no doubt they will try and fix the game....

but

I believe lennon has our european tactics sorted out very well, much like adelaide, sure we are a bit negative, play on the counter attack and have to hang in there sometimes but we do have the players to unlock juve

set pieces we have ledley, samaras, ambrose, wanyama, pace with forrest, skill with commons, the drive from samaras and hooper has shown hes one of the best poachers in europe

the tie at parkhead of course is crucial but i see celtic getting through

Did anybody see this? It is the rehearsal for the draw, technical and graphics etc.

Shouldn't you want Italian teams to do well in the CL to increase the number of places for Italian teams?

But if Napoli keep getting undone by teams like Bologna then they won't be anywhere near those places anyway

Go back and look at your group draw for the last 10 years and tell me where the draw hasnt been good for Man Utd.

After this morning, i get the feeling Jose is trying to get the sack. He dropped Casillas and then in the press conference stated " adan is better than Casillas".

I think he might be joining the club with the interim manager sooner rather than later.

Its because of this type of attitude that Jose has, that I cannot see him getting the Old Trafford gig

they usually get an easy game because they usually top their group. just so happens that a good team had to finish second in real's group no matter what

Not as outlandish as you would think. Given any one team can only be drawn against 7 possible opponents (less for some teams, Real Madrid and Valencia, for example could only get drawn against 5 possible opponents) it isn't too hard to come out with the same result twice.

I think if you were to do the draw from scratch there is only 25 possibilities (4% chance of repeating). Only rough calculations though, so may be inaccurate.
