It shouldn't ever to get to a level of it having to be a police issue, where criminal offences are being committed. This is a matter for SAASL to sort out especially if it extends beyond the rules of the game..... e.g throw out clubs, suspend players, deduct points not a $500 fine?legga wrote:Article says police couldn't do anything because no one wanted to step up....Well don't come on here bleating about it if you don't want anything to happen. Bury your head in the sand and hope it doesn't happen again....Way to go...Forest T Hairy wrote:There is no place for violence in this sport say the league but yet no players have received any suspension?
That's why this keeps happening and will continue to do so until clubs, players etc realise that punishments will be severe!!
For SAASL to come out and tell the reporter there is no place for violence but yet haven't really dealt with it just makes it more of a sham!
Grow some balls SAASL.

You can't force people to make a statement to the police.
If players did make a report and people were arrested by the police that would still be independant and a separate matter.
It still doesn't hide from the fact that SAASL haven't done anything to the players involved.
Basically they have got away with a king hit and stamping on a player without even a yellow card issued. As far as I am aware the players could of still received a card after the game had been abandoned as it was mentioned in the referee report.
It's all water under the bridge now and it will continue to happen if there is no punishments issued.

So you have made a statement on who did what to the league, not not the police?Forest T Hairy wrote:You can't force people to make a statement to the police.

They are criminal matters by the sounds of it so should be dealth with by the police.
The league were not at the game and im sure there is mass amounts of people saying different things in this sitaution would not help them. That is what the police are there for to get to the end of the issue, if they are found guilty of soemthing, take that to the league to suspend/exclude the player(s)/coach(es).
Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
When there is an incident in the EPL do the police get involved?
Did Suarez get arrested for the bite in the World Cup? No he just got suspended and that was an assault.
I'm not saying it can't be a police issue. Your missing the point that despite the league having the information on the refs report that a certain player (identified by number) king hit another one. They have done nothing
Simples!!

Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
Similar but less intense incident occurred in the Collegiate League a few weeks ago.... made the Advertiser as well but it will be intersting to see how this is handled as a direct comparison. The newspaepr quote is below but have a look at the penalties for the 2 players involved and that the President has been proactive in calling this out as an expected penalty (AND he is heavily involved with the club concerned)...
"AN AMATEUR soccer match was called off early following an “assault on the pitch” in which a player was repeatedly punched by an opponent from a Newton-based club.
A Rostrevor Old Collegians player could cop a ban of up to seven weeks after allegedly punched a Pembroke Old Scholars opponent several times at the 75th minute of a division three clash in the Collegiate Soccer League on July 29 at Park 17.
A Pembroke player said on social media last weekend the incident started after a team mate made a “bad tackle” on a Rostrevor player.
“The (Rostrevor) opponent player snapped,” the Pembroke player said.
“Took a huge swing and knocked our player to the ground, then dived into our player and continued to lay punches to the head as our player laid on the ground trying to cover his head.
“Worst thing I’ve seen in 25 years. A disgrace. Charges should be laid in my view. Nobody consents to being assaulted on the sporting field.”
With Pembroke leading 3-1, the game was called off.
League chairman Raf Plawecki said the score was likely to stand with player penalties expected to be handed down this week.
“The Rostrevor player is looking at between five to seven weeks (on the sidelines),” he said. “The Pembroke player could get between two and three weeks.
“Both were automatically suspended over the weekend, so they won’t be playing. The incident happened and there were no further fights.
“The two players were separated and the game was finished. It’s difficult (to assess the incident) as we don’t have any video footage. We need to get reports from the referees.”
The league says a Rostrevor player had been sent off earlier in the match after attempting to retrieve the ball from an opposition player.
Both clubs were reluctant to speak before deadline but confirmed the incident.
A Football Federation SA spokesman said the matter was being addressed by the league.

Seems like they have acted swiftly already and the clubs are dealing with players immediately.
The Wolves players have still been playing since this incident
Let us know the outcome of league punishment and club punishment if known

Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
The CSL fight mentioned previous has resulted in the instigator getting a 9 match ban... The player was banned for 2 games awaiting the verdict and the tribunal increased it to 9 games!
Thats how you deal with nobbers who want to punch on during a game....
On a related note, the story about this incident was run in the Advertiser and was copied / pasted from someones facebook page even after they asked for it not be used..... glad to see the standard of journalism at the Tiser has hit the heady heights of using someones facebook 'opinion' as facts ...

Probably a daft question but what's the deal with CSL. Do you have to be associated with a posh school or Uni to join or is it open to any club.
Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
you apply to join via their AGM held in November, the clubs then vote to decide whether you are accepted.N5 1BH wrote:Probably a daft question but what's the deal with CSL. Do you have to be associated with a posh school or Uni to join or is it open to any club.

Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
Cheers for that. Never really thought much about CSL before, so in theory most clubs could apply? I presume it's amateur in the traditional sense and not like the Div 1 saasl clubs. Is the standard of the games comparable to any of the Sunday saasl divs.Gristy wrote:you apply to join via their AGM held in November, the clubs then vote to decide whether you are accepted.N5 1BH wrote:Probably a daft question but what's the deal with CSL. Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
Probably based on the teams themselves, but the team I coached played two CSL teams in pre season and came away with very comfortable wins and that was SAASL Div 2. Again, not sure where these two teams stood in the rankings.N5 1BH wrote:Cheers for that. Never really thought much about CSL before, so in theory most clubs could apply? Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
The last time I saw any of it I would say the top division is about Sat Div 2, with a couple of sides mid table div 1.
Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
Talk about a leopard cant change its spots.
Wolves prety peeved that Aldinga outplay them and were very unlucky not to take all the points, so they revert to abusing and threatening the ref. The referee made them change their linesman because of the blatent offside abuse and personal abuse to him. End of he game they started abusing us and the ref. The ref asked us to provide stewards to escort him off. We had to take the ref to our change rooms because he feared for his safety. We also had to escort him to his car
. The ref is an experienced ref who normally refs premier league games. What a disgrace report going into saasl on Monday.

Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
Surely its about time the Northern Chihuahuas were booted from the league. Week in, week out they are nothing short of an absolute disgrace!! The only bigger disgrace is the absolute clowns running the show that do nothing to remove this stain from the league
Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
So the 2 players for wolves got 1 match bans for the OTH incident....
& a 2 match suspended sentence. WTF is that about
Massive punishment from SAASL for a king hit and and all in brawl.
That was issued before the weekends incident with Aldinga.
With the latest episode of the Wolves saga and by the sounds of it threats made to the referee. Is this the straw that breaks the camels back? SAASL to act like they didn with Eleven Adult FC and be brace enough to sort out the wolves or chihuahuas as stated above
We wait.... but with baited breath?

Re: One Tree Hill Vs Northern Wolves... All in brawl
As a club we have decided that it is not in our interest to put our players, officials and supporters at risk of injury, abuse or threats from the Northern Wolves club and therefore forfeit our games this weekend.
In light of the previous incident earlier this season where Northern Wolves caused our game with them to be abandoned due to violence we are not prepared to place anyone's safety at risk.
The club and SAASL have a duty of care but this cannot be guaranteed.
The behaviour of NW club has been illustrated on several occasions this season. They have had 5 forfeited games and it's no wonder teams don't want to play them.
The disciplinary record of the NW is the worst in the division with at least 10 red cards and the same in yellow cards.
Division 3 will be a better place without them next season.
Good luck to them in division 2!!
Ps. Nil action taken re Aldinga incident

Its a shame it has to get to this but I commend you in taking such action. Its also disappointing that they will be rewarded rather then punished. Shame SAASL.Forest T Hairy wrote:As a club we have decided that it is not in our interest to put our players, officials and supporters at risk of injury, abuse or threats from the Northern Wolves club and therefore forfeit our games this weekend.

Probably done them a favour tbf and prevented them from getting banned.
One more incident and they were gone apparently. But now the slate will be clean for next season no doubt.
No reply from SAASL in regards to reason why we forfeited
Onwards and upwards!
