Craig Laird's SAASL Sunday Premier Division
Round 15 round up...

August 13, 2017 - Match of the Day
A 1st half injury time goal from Musti Ipekdal secured Brahma Lodge all three points with a 1-0 win over Salisbury Inter at Cockburn Green.
Lodge came into the game on the back of a 3-2 loss in round 14 to Parafield Gardens while Inter were looking to extend a seven-game unbeaten run in the league.
Lodge started strongly when a ball into the box on four minutes found Jarred Foster whose shot was well saved by Inter keeper Josh Foreshaw and on 12 minutes Foreshaw did well to deny Michael Mullen with a good diving save.
The visiting Inter’s best chance of the half came on 39 minutes when a Michael Centrone corner was well met by Nathan Pettit but his header was brilliantly saved by Lodge keeper Jimmy McKee.
The deadlock was broken on the stroke of half time when a Matthew Bekirovski free kick took a deflection which wrong footed Foreshaw in the Inter goal and when he could only parry the shot Musti Ipekdal was on hand to slide the ball home.
On 58 minutes McKee pulled off a brilliant double save firstly denying a close-range Pettit headed and then blocking a Ross Tripodi effort to the delight of the home fans.
On 90 minutes Foreshaw kept Inter in the game when he showed great reflexes to tip a Lewis Vallelonga header over the cross bar and with seconds on the clock a curling shot from Pettit was well held by McKee as Lodge secured the points.
Lodge coach Ryan Mogg “Happy with the win, I thought the better team won on the day.”

ELIZABETH Downs are within a point of sealing the 2017 league championship thanks to a 6-0 thumping of Modbury Vista at Richardson Reserve.
Vista have been on a good recent run of form but any hope of an upset against the league pace setter took a dent in the 3rd minute when Scott Lindsay was on hand to stab the ball home from close range.
The lead was doubled when Tommy Blackett got on the end of a Ben McMullen cross to score from six yards out.
The 2nd half saw more of the same from the visiting Maroons with Mat Watson scoring a brace while Lindsay and Blackett both netted again to finish with two each.
Downs coach Alan Mottram “We turn our focus to the cup now and we know we need to secure another win in the league.”

ELIZABETH Vale moved to 4th on the table with a 3-1 win over Salisbury Florina at Underdown Park.
Both sides came into the game having won only one of their last four league games and it was the travelling Vale who struck first.
On 40 minutes Michael Francis struck a 25-yard free kick low and hard to give the Vale the half time lead.
The lead was doubled on 63 minutes through Stephen Orange before Jason Trimboli gave Florina hope on 70 minutes when he converted from the penalty spot.
The points were sealed when youngster Jarred Ebert rounded the Florina keeper before slotting his chance from a tight angle.
Vale coach Tim Crawford “Very happy with the performance it was a really disciplined effort by all of the lads.”

PARA Hills East have taken a massive step toward survival with a 4-0 win over Southern Knights at Para Hills Oval.
East came into the game in 7th place three points above 9th placed Modbury Vista and six clear of their opponent the 10th placed Southern Knights.
The home team took a deserved lead on 34 minutes when Michael Whitford followed up a parried shot to pass the ball into the net and on the stroke of half time it was 2-0 when Lee Richards rounded his marker before firing home.
A Shane Winter free kick on 66 minutes made it 3-0 and the win was sealed on 75 minutes when Jack Wegener played in Timmy Watson who drilled his shot to make it 4-0.
East coach Ryan Bastable “Really happy with the effort the boys gave today, I felt we dominated the game.”
INGLE Farm secured a valuable point drawing 2-2 with Parafield Gardens at Walkleys Park.
The draw moved the 8th placed Farm three points clear of the 9th placed Modbury Vista who have also played one game more.

Correct. Terrible keeping with his first goal and cracking assist which left him with a sitter for his second.

Porter a "free agent" was a great pick up by Simmo and his back street boyz, I mean back room staff.

Both goals taken extremely well, yes great assist for his second but Joel still had work to do and buried it very nicely with his left peg.

Both goals can be seen on the IFASC facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/ifasc courtesy of the great team at SAPIO Productions. :)
