I think you'll find West Adelaide have been the quiet team that have been attracting many players from across the ditch. Some big names that will probably surprise many. Stay tuned, I suspect someone will spill the beans and name names.

A lot can happen between now and September. A bit early to be handing out hardware.

Re: Player Movement Season 2018
That's 7 in's for Metro: Calder, Rigon, Zafaridis, Quigley, +3 from FFSA.
Marie on the 5RTI Soccer program on Saturday said she's only lost 1 from last years squad, plus Steer to come back in at some point.

Metro just have names on paper at this point, but must admit that paper looks pretty good and they bat right down to 15/16.
What about in's and out's at other clubs?

who do you think will challenge them ? Metro have at least 16 players that would get a first team spot ( and a full game ...hint ) at any other WNPL club.

Re: Player Movement Season 2018
Clearly Metro have assembled a quality side to begin the season. My point was simply that sometimes a team that looks great on paper fails to fulfill its potential (think Melbourne City in the W-League this year). Team of stars, star team... Also, injuries happen (not that I'm wishing them on anyone), players go on holiday- Some players who are unhappy with the amount of game time they're getting, often due to new arrivals, will choose to move for more first team opportunity. Metro has many players who have played WNPL for a long time- they can only play 16 every week. I don't know anything about the three NTC players that they've acquired, but I don't suspect they will be happy riding the bench, and I don't think they will be replacing Quigs, Stockdale, Moore, Scalzi, Calder, Cockayne, Reed etc...
A lot can happen during the course of a season. I wouldn't count out West Adelaide, or City for that matter. I think that it will be close at the top again this season. Salisbury Inter have picked up a few quality players as well-.

11+3=16??

Re: Player Movement Season 2018
Sorry- 16 on the team sheet...
And the women's competition allows four substitutions, according to the competition guidelines:
Competition Regulations
Section 6
clause b states:
A team is permitted to name five substitutes on the team sheet, only four of the five named, can be used in the game.

Re: Player Movement Season 2018
WOW Uni. Well done. Excellent signings. Salisbury done good too.
Who says the WNPL is boring and lacklustre and lacks skill and is a joke? Ooops I thought this was the AFL-W page.
Seriously...the WNPL is going great guns. The next wave of talent 15-18 years olds are really lifting the standard and those that are at the 25-28+ age group are finding a new lease of life with exciting football and excellent club structures to complement the WNPL standard. Well done. For once I can see natural progression and a solid foundation for the game.
Hopefully women's football can continue to grow and build on the WNPL of the last 3 seasons and show what this sport is all about. It will need to withstand the onslaught of the pathetic AFL-W product and avoid the inevitable cross-hopping lure. A 7 weeks season of nothing vs 23 + rounds in the WNPL is not comparable.
