Re: Cahill to Millwall
Millwall have denied it haven't they?God is an Englishman wrote:That's the rumour anyway.
Would the link be because he was a teammate of the current manager? (other than the obvious being he is a former player).
The Championship would be too hectic for him you would think at this stage of his career. Cahill pretty much has lost all his pace and just wouldn't be a good match for that style of football you would think.

Re: Cahill to Millwall
So he left Melb City to play more competitive football. How's that going then? Maybe it was a bit premature? If he stayed he would have at least had some games under his belt as it doesn't seem clubs are jumping out of their skin to sign him up. Can only assume his contract had specifics that meant he needed to go when he did.

Former team mate of the manager, Harris. Most Millwall fans are pretty happy with the fact that he might be coming back. Personally, I think he'd be an idiot to come back and Millwall would be stupid to sign him.

He couldn't sign with anyone else until the windows opened anyway, so leaving early was pretty silly.Bomber wrote:So he left Melb City to play more competitive football. How's that going then? I'm surprised it's taken even this long to have a new club. Thought that would have been worked out before leaving.

I hope the deals are not happening because of money, as Tim says its all about game time.Slinky_Pete wrote:He couldn't sign with anyone else until the windows opened anyway, so leaving early was pretty silly.Bomber wrote:So he left Melb City to play more competitive football. As he cancelled his contract, he was unregistered so could sign for anyone (I think)Slinky_Pete wrote:He couldn't sign with anyone else until the windows opened anyway, so leaving early was pretty silly.Bomber wrote:So he left Melb City to play more competitive football. Re: Cahill to Millwall
He could always swallow his pride and come back to the A-League and play for AU.
If the FFA appoint a new National Coach from overseas, I doubt very much that they will be prepared to take a chance with a 38-year-old player who can't even make the grade in the A-League, or Championship, anymore.

IMO I think in the end he will think its all to hard and retire. Especially if the new national coach hasn't got him in his plans for the WC.

Re: Cahill to Millwall
He was at The Den on Saturday and have heard he's signing today. However, have also heard of late bids from QPR and Forest for significantly larger salaries. Loyalty v Bank balance?Brian the Postman wrote:Apparently the move is back on.

I didn’t think It would be this excited, but I am.
When you switch on the news in Australia and see one of your heroes in a Millwall shirt again, talking about other legends like Keith Stevens as well.
Welcome home Joey.

He comes on a free transfer - Im not so sure he will be on high dollars up front but he may have a few incentive clauses.
IMO - This is seen as a short term fix to help both club and player.
It will be very interesting to see how he goes.

Even at 38 will probably be best player at the club and should get plenty of game time.
