With the next round of the FFA Cup due to be played the same weekend as the start of the SAASL league what game will be played on the weekend and what game midweek.

Ghan Vs White City... a few years back there were sister clubs, players would play for WC on the Saturday and then Ghan on the Sunday!!!Lucas Leiva wrote:Metro v Campbelltown

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Home team gets to decide when the game will get played. If you want to change SAASL fixture you must negotiate with the league hierarchy. If you want to play Cup game midweek, you nominate a date/time with FFSAmanu1 wrote:With the next round of the FFA Cup due to be played the same weekend as the start of the SAASL league what game will be played on the weekend and what game midweek.

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
I tend to agree that those are the only "Amateur" teams that will get through to the next round.churchill wrote:I predict Inter to beat Adelaide Uni, BOSA to beat Mt Barker,Lucas Leiva wrote:Metro v Campbelltown

Having a look 4 of the 5 round 1 SAASL Sunday Premier games are compromised by participating FFA Cup teams.. next year the league will need to consider this when drafting fixtureshaywood djablowme wrote:Home team gets to decide when the game will get played. Seaford promoted to SL1 last year and Vale finishing 4th or 5th in SAASL Sun Prem, this looks like a cracking encounter#88 wrote:

I'm hereing some clubs contemplating forfeiting either the cup or league fixture due to other saasl clubs unwilling to reschedule or league unwilling to step in and postpone, disappointing if true as would make a mockery of the affliation.
You would expect the saasl to give its teams the best possible chance to advance but it seems not.

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Surely the clubs would move the cup games to a midweek game. Bit of a shame if the b and c grade play then no first team game on the Sunday
Re: FFSA CUP 2018
This will be interesting to see what happens, great being in the FFA cup but shouldn't effect SAASL round 1 of the season, you talk to different people they have different interpretation of the rules.
I hope it all works out for clubs involved still.

Doesn't the league competition rules enable the deferment of a fixture if a team is in the federation cup (in this case the FFSA cup)?LRO wrote:This will be interesting to see what happens, great being in the FFA cup but shouldn't effect SAASL round 1 of the season, you talk to different people they have different interpretation of the rules.

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Is a pain to reschedule and the leagues lack of communication as always frustrating but it’s new to this year so always going to be some problems, our fixture has been brought forward to accomodate the cup game on the weekend for gardens.. my opinion is cup games should be mid week but obviously can be hard especially if a local Adelaide team had Renmark away for example

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Can't FFA Cup games be played on a chosen date between Wednesday 12th and 19th April?
Surely SAASL teams can play them midweek. If they have no lights then rent a pitch with lights

Surely SAASL teams can play their home games at home. Alternatively, perhaps the FFSA/SAASL can rent a pitch with lights to allay the cost

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Credit to PHW for helping out a fellow SAASL club to continue their experience in the FFSA Cup. Well done! The amateur league headquarters should take note, as should other clubsJonesy5 wrote:Is a pain to reschedule and the leagues lack of communication as always frustrating but it’s new to this year so always going to be some problems, our fixture has been brought forward to accomodate the cup game on the weekend for gardens.. my opinion is cup games should be mid week but obviously can be hard especially if a local Adelaide team had Renmark away for example

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
The league needs to take control and support the ffa cup, one of their drawcards of getting amateur teams to affiliate was saying "you can go in the ffa cup", then they drop round 1 on the same weekend and theres a free weekend this weekend for div 1 and 2 to play,

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
This is the crap part, it shouldn't have anything to do with the clubs - SAASL and FFSA would have known for at least 6 weeks that the next round of the cup is on the same weekend Round 1 of SAASL starts. Should have been a contingency plan as soon as the Amateur clubs made it through to the next round. The Leagues should have stepped in long ago, PHE have arranged there sponsors day for round 1 vs Brahma. I hope a compromise can be arranged.RB10 wrote:Cheers PHE for not helping out anyone!

In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

Re: FFSA CUP 2018
Makes sense for SAASL league games to go ahead as planned on Sat or Sun.
You would get your usual crowds to these games and probably a couple extras as it is the first game of the season.
Then play the FFSA Cup midweek as there would be the added benefit of attracting all those neutrals to the games.
If those teams played the FFSA cup game on the weekend and others were playing their usual fixture then less likely to generate a larger crowd due to them watching their own teams.
* Unfortunately for some they will pick a training night of other teams thus reducing the interest *
