Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
Discussing with a reserves coach at the weekend and he was considering naming a 14 year old on his bench.
A young boy seemed to think the only rule was that you can only play for 3 sides in any one round.
Another suggested that how ever long he plays in the seniors means he cannot play that amount of time in the juniors the next day.
One suggested that there was no rule, play as long as you want for any team you are age eligible for.
Anyone know that actual answer.

Re: Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
The rules only applies to the Junior Cup. I've seen players play U18, U16 and U15 on one weekend.God is an Englishman wrote:Discussing with a reserves coach at the weekend and he was considering naming a 14 year old on his bench.

a. Players who are aged up to 18, or who turn 18 in the year of competition, are eligible to play in the Under 18. There is no provision to allow overage players in this competition. Any club who breaches this rule shall be subject to the sanctions as per the unregistered, suspended and ineligible players rule. Refer to clause 62 of FFSA Competition Rules and Regulations.
b. It should be noted that where clubs have teams participating on the same round it may call for players to play in a higher grade. However, once a player has played in that higher grade on that particular round he shall become ineligible to play in a lower grade for his club on the same round of matches (including the final series). This applies even where the same round of games is played on different weekends. It must be noted that the Senior Competition is classified as a separate competition to that of the junior competition and consequently this rule will not apply to the movement of junior players.
c. Goalkeepers are exempt from this ruling.

So I read that as he could play reserves and then 14's, 14's and then 15's but he couldn't play 15's and then 14's.
Re: Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
It says that the rule doesn't apply for juniors.God is an Englishman wrote:Thanks.magnet wrote:Eligibility of PlayersGod is an Englishman wrote:Discussing with a reserves coach at the weekend and he was considering naming a 14 year old on his bench.

Re: Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
So these are just the 18's rules then.
Separate rules for junior league or a free for All?

Re: Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
I dont get the logic of wanting to move 13 and 14year olds to play u18 or reserves. These young people still have plenty of time to develop and learn the game in their own age group.
Re: Junior Players playing both juniors and seniors
There are different operating instructions for Seniors and Juniors. The Juniors can move up to four players between teams in the same age group but there are no restrictions on moving age groups.God is an Englishman wrote:So these are just the 18's rules then.

If they're good enough, they're old enough.Slide Tackle wrote:I dont get the logic of wanting to move 13 and 14year olds to play u18 or reserves. These young people still have plenty of time to develop and learn the game in their own age group.

For a person with so many qualifications, this shouldn't be so hard.kenedy wrote:Its a very difficult question for me and I have no clue.
