I hope they let him know up front what he can and cant say & that its not all about winning.
After last year you'd think nothing could take the shine off the Matilda's, one of the bright stars in our national sport last year, I couldn't have been anymore wrong.
I hope they can get it back on track and do well enough to paper over the cracks.

So they are going to address the apparent cultural issues around how male staff interact with female players by appointing a male head coach with zero experience interacting with female players?

If your using England as a benchmark for women’s football that could be where you’re going wrong. Only recently been frantically playing catch up after many years of disinterestBeNatural wrote:Phil NevilleN5 1BH wrote:So they are going to address the apparent cultural issues around how male staff interact with female players by appointing a male head coach with zero experience interacting with female players?

Indeed all the way up to 2 from a lowly 3rd. Was more alluding to how the FA were prepared to sweep the antics of the previous coach under carpet while the results were coming in.

Judging by the performances of the Matildas, there must be some substance with the cultural issues that plagued the team. The last 2 games by the Matildas have been exceptional. The team had looked lack lustre the last 12 months or so. Who knows!! Proof is in the pudding.

Take into account also that they are all playing for a spot- some players getting a look in when before they weren’t really on the radar (Gielnick, Simon, Polias etc. ), others trying to stay in the mix (DeVanna springs to mind)- new coach, new eyes. May have as much to do with that as anything else.
Under Stajcic the playing group seemed pretty fixed. Now not so much.
