You could almost say forget the toss of the coin, let the visiting side choose first to even things up a bit? Sad if it got to that, but if it keeps going like this you never know.God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:I think its good for cricket to see Windies look dangerous again. Well, sort of.
England doing what Australia had done of late - forgot how to play test cricket.
Playing Sri Lanka at home has possibly made us look a bit better then we are, BUT you can only beat who is in front of you.
Should be interesting to see the first eleven for each team come first ashes test.
Completely agree. This W Indies side has a pmayed decent cricket. Proper Windies fast bowling, patient batting.. Meanwhile England didn't even have a warm up game, they expected 3-0 to come easily.
Australia will have three players back in contention and I can see all 3 playing. England recently beat Sri Lanka away 3-0 whixh is never easy and beat India at home.
Is this just another case that away series wins are becoming rarer and rarer.

It has been discussed to follow the county game lead for next Ashes. Visiting side is invited to bowl, If they don't want to, they have coin toss.

That has some merit but I fear that home sides will be "encouraged" to produce flat wickets if that were the only optionGod is an Englishman wrote:It has been discussed to follow the county game lead for next Ashes. Visiting side is invited to bowl, If they don't want to, they have coin toss.

Having Broad back made big difference , should never have been left out of the 1st Test.

How good was Stokes's performance as an opener. Fantastic viewing. He's have been close to Chris Gayle's fastest century record as an opener if they hadn't declared.

Only caught the extended highlights but he was flying. In hindsight could have given him a couple more overs just to get ahead of warner but ah well next time.

The declaration has always been a balancing act, some captains roll the dice others play it safer. I can't imagine Geoff Boycot making the same call as Root ,especially if he was batting.

With only 22 runs until his 100 and 2.5 sessions to go. There would have been time for Boycott to get his century and then have 2 overs at the W.Indies before stumps.

Well I haven't seen you to be sure, BUT have you seen Warne lately? Hardly in the fat category. Unlike the average pom on his fish/chips/beer diet.

Hmmm, Australians recently stated to be the most obese in the western world. Funny, wouldn't have thought witchety grubs, damper & billy tea were that fattening.

Re: England cricket team lol
The HP I found had 4 "western" countries ahead of australia.
USA, Bahamas, Canada and New Zealand. USA were top of the western countries in 12th.
However, I do recall a while back reading a report that has australia at #1, can't find it now though.

USA number one for obesity of devloped nations with 36% of population.
Australia 29% and UK 27.8%.
