Just goes to prove that Liverpool's own comeback from certain defeat was no fluke, doesn't it.

I commend Liverpool for giving a good performance, teams that use solely defensive tactics with a occasional counter attack are very hard to break down.Sometimes ugly tactics get you the result,i just hope this seasons winner will be a team that show us more skill than this.

Going back a while but wasn't there a 4-3 with Newcastle. Collymore got the winner?

Two in two years. Yep.

About the same 'era' we drew 3-3 with UTD after being 3 down .
Madrid beat us 3-0 at home
4-4 with Arsenal is the last time i remmber us letting in 4 at Anfield in the league

And of course it was 5-5 with Arsenal in the League cup this season. But that was mainly our kids.

Barcelona v. Bayern 2-8(!). Barca absolutely slaughtered.

When, if ever, was the last time Messi was on a losing side by that margin?

Pique now officially past it - a mere statue in the Barca defence. The Bayern forwards and midfielders simply walked past him.

Coutinho helped himself to two goals when coming off the bench. Unusual situation though - he was on loan to Bayern from Barcelona. I thought there was a sort of unwritten agreement that players in that situation don’t play against the club which has loaned them out...

Just woke up to that score. Amazing. As a Chelsea fan our 4:1 to Bayern looks close. More amazing is Lewandowski only scored 1 and Messi 0.
Worse for Barca is their loan player to Bayern Coutinho scored 2 and Barca's best goal was scored by Alba tog

Yeah nah eagleboy, good to hear you were getting your beauty sleep. But ‘twas even more amazing watching this drama unfold live. Reminded me of Brazil’s 1-7 destruction in their home 2014 World Cup. Ya had to pinch yourself to believe wot wuz goin’ down!

ManCity v. Lyon 1-3. Half-time was 0-1 with Lyon controlling the play.

But the drama was at the 86th minute mark, with the game poised at 1-2, when Sterling missed a tap-in with the goal-mouth completely open.

Instead of Sterling equalising to make it 2-2, Dembele raced down the other end in the 87th minute to seal Lyon’s 3-1 win.

A couple of things caught the eye in this absorbing game:

(a) Lyon’s inventive defending at free-kicks by ManCity. A Lyon defender was down with an outstretched leg behind his 4-man wall to block any disguised low shot under the wall if the wall was tricked into jumping; and

(b) lifelong ManCity fan Simon Hill commentating this game - shades of bias similar to Eddie Maguire commentating Collingwood games in the AFL.

Inventive? Seen it happen many times by many clubs.

Alternatively, the wall just doesn't jump and you have an extra man to go in the wall.

I actually didn’t think Simon Hill was biased in his call , he is certainly big improvement on Martin Tyler .

As for Man City IMO I thought that Guardiola sent out a too defensive line up at the start of the game .

If Sterling goes with his left, it's almost impossible to miss.
