Re: McGure Axed from England Squad
Harry Maguire lucky not to get imprisoned. Probably his profile saved him. Some Greek official may be a bit wealthier as well, not that they would take a bribe in Greece.
Re: McGure Axed from England Squad
Considering the length of the suspended sentence, I think he's very very lucky to have had the entire 21 months suspended and not serve any jail time at all.
For what he did, personally think he should be serving jail time.
But yeah, his profile and Man Utd has probably got him off here

He'd have certainly done more than kick a Football boot at him.

Very lucky to walk free, one wonders what the punishment would have been for the average tourist who committed same offence .united92 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 11:02 am Considering the length of the suspended sentence, I think he's very very lucky to have had the entire 21 months suspended and not serve any jail time at all.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
Phillips has been consistently a major contributor to Leeds success all season, so he deserved his opportunity, IMO.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
Maybe but Phillips can't be compared to Sancho who has already performed at a very high level ( Bundesliga and Champions League). IMO I would have Grealish a spot in the squad ahead of Phillips gvien his performances last season in the EPL.Old Master wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 11:51 amPhillips has been consistently a major contributor to Leeds success all season, so he deserved his opportunity, IMO.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
I'm amazed at how many people were there and know the full details of this case.
A Greek copper turning down a bribe, that's the bit I struggle with.
If Maguire's story is true then he should have been let off.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood have allegedly broken Iceland's Covid-19 restrictions after inviting girls back to their quarantine hotel in Iceland.
After a spike in local transmissions, the government recently clamped down and brought in further restrictions.
Although the England team are exempt, foreign travellers arriving in the country are being forced to quarantine for 14 days before they are allowed to travel freely in the country.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
After that performance I'd be surprised if Maguire got anywhere near an England shirt.

I would think Pickford would be close to getting dropped after yet another clanger for Everton on the weekend . Good chance against Wales use Nick. Pope ,Nice One Cyril wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 8:22 am After that performance I'd be surprised if Maguire got anywhere near an England shirt.

I see Sancho, Abraham and Chilwell set to miss the friendly with Wales after breaking " Covid 6" rule.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
A bit apples and pears though, Rashford is a winger/forward and Grealish more of a 10.
On current form, Grealish would be our best attacking midfielder, with either Henderson or Winks at 6, but depends very much on what formation Southgate wants to play.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
I think ideally southgate would like to play 5 defensive midfielders and eric dier. End of the day it doesn't matter what formation we play if our forwards can't get the ball around the penalty box, Grealish can give them the ballNice One Cyril wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 9:56 amA bit apples and pears though, Rashford is a winger/forward and Grealish more of a 10.

Re: Maguire Axed from England Squad
The 3-4-3 formation is certainly defensive when he employs Henderson and Winks in the two CM roles. I agree Grealish should be brought in to provided that creative spark.N5 1BH wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:29 amI think ideally southgate would like to play 5 defensive midfielders and eric dier.
