Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
Pascos de Ferreira finished 5th in Portugal Premier Liga
The UEFA Europa Conference League (abbreviated as UECL), colloquially referred to as the UEFA Conference League, is an annual football club competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for eligible European football clubs.[1] Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. It is the third tier of European club football, after the Champions League and the Europa League.
Introduced for the 2021–22 season, the league will serve as the bottom level of the existing UEFA Europa League competition, which was reduced from 48 to 32 teams in the group stage. The competition will primarily be contested by teams from lower-ranked UEFA member associations.[1] No teams qualify directly to the group stage, with 10 teams eliminated in the Europa League play-offs and the rest coming from the Europa Conference League qualifiers. The winners of the competition are awarded a position in the Europa League the following season, unless they qualify for the Champions League.[

More likely a chance for no-hoper clubs to grab some silverware.

Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
I reckon the Fox & Hounds Sunday team would have beaten Mura, at least they'd have put some bloody effort in. I don't see the point in the competition at all, none of the 'big' clubs want to be in it and that shows in the players' performances. Just play the youth team to give them some experience, at least they'd play as a team rather than a disjointed collection of also-rans.eagleboy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 11:34 amTottenham out of their depth in this comp.haywood djablowme wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 10:33 am NS Mura (lowest rank team in Europa Conference) (UEFA coefficent ranking of 341) 2

Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
Celtic play Bodø/Glimt in next round. Word is Celtic are chasing the Bodø/Glimt captain in the Jan transfer window. I think they are loosing their top scorer as well.
I would say Leicester are favourites imho to win this trophy.
Europa Conference League play-off draw
Marseille v Qarabag
PSV v Maccabi Tel Aviv
Fenerbahce v Slavia Prague
Midtjylland v PAOK
Leicester City v Randers
Celtic v Bodo/Glimt
Sparta Prague v Partizan Belgrade
Rapid Vienna v Tottenham or Vitesse
I notice no English sides left in the Europa League
Europa League draw results
Sevilla vs. Dinamo Zagreb
Atalanta vs. Olympiacos
RB Leipzig vs. Real Sociedad
Barcelona vs. Napoli
Zenit St. Petersburg vs. Real Betis
Borussia Dortmund vs. Rangers
Sheriff vs. Braga
Porto vs. Lazio

Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
I saw they had to forfeit but I can assure you, that's a great relief. I really don't see the purpose of the competition for the EPL teams, it's well below the bloody League Cup in terms of prestige.

Watched part of the game. Celtic looked totally outmatched. The Bodo defense totally dominant. Celtic defense looked sloppy.Bodø Glimt wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 6:09 amGlimt 5-1 winners on aggregate. Where's yogi these days?

Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
One thing I've noticed from this competition is so many foreigners refer too them as Bodø. Back home it's Bodø/Glimt or simply Glimt, but never just Bodø. The reports I have heard said could have been 4-0.

Re: EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE - QUALIFYING PLAY-OFFS
No excuses- my lot were dominated by Bodo over the two legs and the aggregate score doesn't lie. I expected a lot more from Celtic but not totally surprised as many as Celtic's Achilles' heel is their weak defence, both from set plays and open play. Any kind of movement from forwards or breaking midfielders appear to cut through them like a knife through butter.
Would have thought that Ange would have seen this from analysing the first game but this would suggest some of the players are not good enough?
This is a hard one to swallow as Rangers (who were dominated by Celtic recently) have just dumped Dortmund out of Europe and deservedly so. I am the first to admit that Rangers are a different beast compared to Celtic in Europe as they seem to have more of a spine through the team and are not as vulnerable at the back.
That said Celtic's main aim this year is to wrestle the title back from Rangers and judging by Celtic's most recent performances (conceding goals) it certainly won't be plain sailing.
However I refuse to accept that Celtic were 'less interested' in this competition and a 5-1 humbling in a third tier European competition should send out a strong message that this is unacceptable. I would imagine that most Celtic players are on far higher salaries (in comparison to Bodo's) and I would hope Ange gets under their skin and rips in to them.
