I don't think he can do that and I don't think that England play in a way that will allow him to get high up the pitch and deliver the ball as he does for Liverpool, at least not on a regular basis.

Gareth does not like flair or luxury players, he wants solid, dependable types who'll run all day, not necessarily in the right places. He's impressed when a player mucks up a simple pass and gives it away to the opposition, then chases like mad to try and get the ball back. I'm impressed with the player who can play the simple pass perfectly every time and doesn't have to run around like a headless chook.

Given that we have James and Walker in the right back spot and Trippier able to cover them, I'd rather take an extra midfielder like Maddison than a suspect full back.
I agree on Maddison he sadly won't get any England game time until Southgate exits the job. Southgate doesn't believe he fits into his defensive 3-4-3 formation . Even the flair players in the squad like Grealish and Foden are relegated to bit parts off the bench .

Obviously it's just bottle of shiraz about, not having seen them in training or anything but this would be the starting base for my team with room for others like Foden, TAA etc. to get a run

Pickford
Trippier / Stones / Tomori or White ??? dunno / Shaw
Bellingham / Rice
Saka / Maddison/ Grealish
Kane

But deserves to be in the squad.
I think it's a shame that GS hasn't experimented with him as a right wing, just for his range of passing and delivery, and keep someone like Walker behind him. Too late now, I think it would be pointless taking him tbh.

Watched the Chelsea v Milan mini match last night. I hope that wasn’t considered one of Tomori’s better games coz he was a bit ordinary.

Walker just had surgery, so TAA might get to go after all?

Reece James injured last night in Chelsea Champions League match, Potter says it will be another 48 hours before extent of injury. If it is serious that would be three England RB in doubt Walker, TAA and James.

Probably hurt his elbow diving to the turf ;-)

Just shows the stupidity of having a World Cup in the middle of the bloody season.

Two big mistakes giving it to Qatar and allowing the tournament in December.

Nah, Saka is no diver - just a very skilful, lightly-built winger who defenders try to buffet and physically monster.

I watched the thrashing of Robin Hood’s men live and it was a legitimate injury Saka suffered. He usually just accepts the bruises and gets on with it.

As for the World Cup in bloody Qatar, that ship has sailed. What were those FIFA execs thinking when corrupt Blatter e Platini got that over the line? Did they actually overlook that Qatar was a furnace in June/July? How embarrassing that they then had to see if it was really possible to effectively air-condition the stadia.

However, now that it is a given that the Cup will proceed in the cooler November/December months in Qatar there may be one silver lining. National team players won’t be as exhausted having played a full European/English domestic season. Hopefully we’ll see some really good World Cup battles.

No no, Elderly Master. Put aside the Qatar venue - there might be some good games for your place of origin with England playing Iran at 11.30pm Monday 21/11/22 and England v. USA at 5.30am Saturday 26/11/22.

Also your place of residence (Straya) playing World Cup holders France at 5.30am Wednesday 23/11/22 and versus Tunisia at 8.30pm Saturday 26/11/22.

All live on our SBS (not mouldy Meldrew’s disgraced Optus which stuffed up the telecast of the 2018 World Cup).

Wot Englishman?? You can’t recall Straya’s PM had to intervene and make Octopus hand it over to our free-to-air SBS after their telecasts kept freezing and f..ark.ing up during the early rounds?

You’re kidding. Ask Mr Google. You know how to google it. It reads “Optus hands rights to SBS after streaming disaster”.
