National average of 1.726 million Australians watched the game.... this figure doesn't include the people that watched the game at clubs, cinemas etc ...
Poor Cornesy and Ken bloody Cunnington didn’t even know wot time the fu.kking game wuz on during their “all-sports” Saturday morning program on radio FiveAAFL.
The faar.k.ing di.c.k.h.eads!
These numb skulls also guffawed on air that the Olympic Games are a bigger event than the World Cup.

True, but not really the point. If we have pretentions to go deep in the WC, we should be performing better than that against a solid, but uninspiring USA.

IMO Mount has never shown enough to be selected, he offers very little except the occasional shot and Sterling is just woeful against even halfway decent opposition. We can't do much about our dodgy defenders, but replace those two and we just might have a chance. And not with Henderson and Phillips.
This is an interesting post as you are basically saying you don't rate at least 6 of England's players. If this was the case how can you seriously rate them as 'having a chance'?
Kane and Pickford for me are England's two main stays, Foden has huge potential and should be getting serious game time though Grealish (for all his talent) appears to be a passenger.
I am interested to see how your first eleven would look. Nice on paper writing down all the attacking minded players in midfield but as we know there has to be a balance.
Southgate getting lots of stick following USA game but where was the praise after the Iran game? And don't say it was 'just' Iran and the result was expected, they showed against Wales they are more than capable on their day.
I do agree that Southgate is not the most inspiring at times but he does seem to get the backing of the players.
"Don't rate" is a little harsh, but remember this is the national team we're talking about here, and it was only Iran, who still scored two against us and we were hanging on against the US as well.

Pickford is good, but he's prone to rashness and my personal opinion is that Ramsdale just shades him. Out of our back four, the only one I think is good enough to play against a top level attack is Stones. Maguire's OK if you're banging long balls at him, he's big and strong and great in the air, but run at him and he's in trouble, he has the turning circle of the QEII, so I'd play White with Stones. Not overly sold on Shaw and Trippier as a pair either, Walker's a better defender than both, but I think Shaw's the only natural lefty we have, so it's either him or Trips at LB. Saka's good and I like Rice and Bellingham, but neither are especially creative, so I'd play Maddison instead of Sterling and Grealish or Foden instead of Mount, with Kane up top.
Fair enough NOC, it would appear you would be in favour of playing in a more offensive style and sacrificing this for a higher risk of losing goals at the back.
Interesting to hear that Shearer says that it may be time to 'rest' Kane, though I rated Shearer as a player and have huge respect for him as a pundit, I would go against resting Kane as you don't drop your big players in major tournaments.
Still think Southgate doesn't get the credit due when it goes well- when it goes pear-shaped the wolves howl at his door.

You don't drop you most dominant goalscorer. One of our best players v Iran.

Maguire has also been playing well.

We let in 2 v Iran but one was a dodgy penalty, especially compared to the one England didn't get.

Wouldn't say we were holding on v usa either. Despite the above, the best chance in the game was Kane's late on. Neither team seemed to really look like scoring.

I would agree about Kane, with the caveat that he is actually fit, I did see that his dodgy ankle was strapped, but might just be precautionary.

Maguire has been playing well for him, but he's not mobile enough against the better players.

The fact that we didn't get a pen that was deserved, didn't make theirs any less of a penalty, it wasn't dodgy.

Didn't the USA hit the bar? I think it was an even game, but that's the point, England shouldn't be having an even game with the US, we should comfortably outplay them, even if on the odd occasion the result isn't always a win.

Lewandoski, Messi, Mbappe and Mitchell Duke. What company to be in. I hope Messi appreciates the company he is in.:D

Get fornicated k.aarnt features. Are you posting from overseas as an EPL or Euro snob?

Plenty of Aussies enjoyed this win. Draw with Denmark 🇩🇰 on Thursday morning and 🇦🇺 Straya will probably be playing former World Cup winners Argentina 🇦🇷 in the Round-of-Sixteen next Sunday 4 December at dawn.

They tried to play tika-taka but went absolutely nowhere that 2nd half.
1 defensive mistake and a keeper that jumped too early on the shot and they now may not qualify if Germany win and they don't get a result v Spain

I think by rest, he means give someone else a chance to actually do something up front. Not sure he’s worried about Kanes welfare.

Problem is under Southgate , Kane spends more time dropping deep then actually an attacking threat.

One particular time against USA, Bellingham was making a great run carrying the ball through the centre and Kane actually ran down the middle towards him and got in his way. Was a wee bit annoying to watch I must say

Watching Serbia vs Cameroon, what is all this bollocks with all the subs running across the pitch to join in the celebrations when a goal is scored? Book the lot of them.

It's getting bloody ridiculous, they clamp down on the coaches taking 2 steps outside the technical area, but the Serbian subs ran the whole width of the pitch and the ref does nothing. Isn't there a law about not entering the field of play?
