Just hope they at least have a crack against France and give Lewandowski some help up front.
As much as Australia and Polska have done well enough to make the last 16, realistically it will be the end of the road, but minimum was achieved at least (going past group stage).
Just a thought, I'm thinking now we are up against France that the english would have been barracking for us two games in a row?

You’ll notice Matt Ryan rarely played out short to his defenders, the cornerstone of the Aussie super curriculum. I’d give them credit if the team actually tried playing like 2011 Barcelona
Thankfully they didn’t

When ange was criticised for playing three at the back and insisting on playing out through the defenders he had a sook and said he thought we were trying to develop a national philosophy, we even had a curriculum outlining how we want to play as a country
You tell me what that means numnuts

How should Australians play football? What skills and style best suit our nation and our hundreds of thousands of players? These are fundamental questions that should engage the minds of everyone involved in the game from the professional tier to the grassroots.
The FFA National Football Curriculum not only provides answers, but explains the philosophy behind how we should play and illustrates practical steps that bring the thinking to life in training and matches.

Anyway, you happy with how we played to win? Must have made you squirm watching Ryan pump ball after ball upfield

Your curriculum has produced nothing, hence our squad has low tier players
The game plan has been the opposite of what the curriculum suggests, because of the level of talent we have, this pragmatic approach has worked by getting us 6 points
If we used the idealistic game plan the curriculum recommends, then we would have ended up with 0 points
You cannot argue any of this as they are the facts
Hope this helps with your confusion.

youre confused!!!!!!!!!.....i havent argued what you are suggesting........if i have, point to it....but i ask you again...."will you merit the win because of the curriculum just like you blamed it for the loss to France (and the idealist)?"
it really is a simple question....
you cant blame 'New football, the A League and the curriculum' for the national teams failures and then not give it credit for when the national team achieves its best group result....
i can give you at least half a dozen reasons why we havent produced a Cahill, Viduka or Kewell in the last 10 years and its got nothing to do with the FFA curriculum.....quite simply, the curriculum outlines 'what to teach, how to teach it and at what age'. The integral elements are the same as the most successful nations but with an emphasis on exploiting our inherited strengths.

Re: World Cup 2022 Forum
A naturally gifted athlete, willing to put in the hard yards, will generally get to a decent standard at whatever sport they're playing even with minimal coaching, so how exactly do you quantify what the curriculum has or hasn't achieved? I agree that it might raise the standard of the average player, but whether it will produce more top level players than would naturally occur is debatable, it's equally possible that it could do the opposite and stifle the individual talent that we're so desperately trying to find.
Are those really the core skills that are required, or are they just basic stuff that produces basic players?
Interestingly, analysis shows that fitness was not a decisive factor at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The fittest teams were not the most successful, but rather the technically best teams containing the ‘special’ players had the greatest success!
Duh, thank you Captain Obvious, but wouldn't those technical players be better if they were a yard quicker, could run longer, jump higher, etc? Why is Cristiano Ronaldo still able (just) to play at the top level at 37, why did Stanley Mathews play until he was 50?The FFA Skill Acquisition training program focuses upon developing four core skills when in possession of the ball. 1. striking the ball This includes all forms of striking the ball such as short/long passing; shooting and crossing 2. First touch Controlling the ball with all allowed body parts 3. 1 v 1 All moves, feints and accelerations to get past and away from an opponent 4. running with the ball At speed (with a lot of space) or ‘dribbling’ (in tight areas), this includes techniques for protecting the ball and changing direction.
Are those really the core skills that are required, or are they just basic stuff that produces basic players?
