So, the King didn't have control of the Kingdom?Old Master wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:17 pm Am I the only person on here who remembers the mid 1970's London, when the current Saudi King was pictured regularly in the papers of the day, staggering out of Casinos held up by his 10 or more 'security guards' and followed by half-a-dozen high end prostitutes, heading back to the top London Hotels where alcohol and drugs were a common commodity?
When he was ordered home by his dying father and eventually assumed control of the Kingdom, he instituted a strict adherence to Islamic 'Law'( ) and ended the former king's allowances towards women accessing education and working and owning property.
The Murdering Prince will most likely do a similar turnabout when he takes full control and introduces more lenient policies as the world realises it doesn't need his oil anymore.
I await the day with interest.
Doesn't need his oil?

Newcastle United: Premier League agrees to meet Amnesty International
By Alistair MagowanBBC Sport
Last updated on 29 October
The Premier League has agreed to meet with Amnesty International for talks about a revised owners' and directors' test following Newcastle's Saudi-backed takeover.
Amnesty wrote to Premier League chief executive Richard Masters after the takeover took place three weeks ago asking for rules to include human rights violations.
It has previously highlighted how Saudi Arabia has an "appalling" record on the issue and says the rules on club ownership are "woefully inadequate".
But the Premier League says it has "legally-binding assurances" that the country's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has an 80% control of the club, not the Saudi state, despite Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also being chair of PIF.
Why is Saudi Arabia-led takeover controversial?
It is understood that the Premier League is willing to listen Amnesty's concerns and will conduct a review of its owners' and directors' test as it often does after a takeover.
The test assesses whether any criminal activity has taken place by prospective owners, but currently does not specifically mention human rights allegations within that.
Sacha Deshmukh, Amnesty International UK's interim chief executive, said: "We're obviously pleased that the Premier League is willing to talk about these proposals as a starting point for what we hope will be a process that leads to considerable strengthening of the rules on football governance.
"The current rules concerning who owns and runs English football clubs are woefully inadequate, with no bar on ownership for those complicit in acts of torture, slavery, human trafficking or even war crimes.
"We're keen to discuss with Richard Masters our ideas for a human rights-compliant Owners' and Directors' test which can help weed out unsuitable owners complicit in human rights violations, as well as reducing sportswashing and generally improving governance within the game."

Re: Newcastle Utd Take Over
Can understand the controversy surrounding the takeover and the many questions about where this money comes from, fit and proper owners etc.
I think the meeting with Amnesty International sounds good on paper but to me it looks like a public relations meeting and will prove to be nothing more than a lip service outcome.
Money buys power and power buys corruption. The EPL has a fantastic product to sell to the public and the fans (either from your armchair or at any given stadium) but it has/will become the victim of its own success.

Eddie Howe being considered for this job, what a joke why just not keep Graeme Jones till end of season & just buy a reasonable midfielder/2 defenders & 1 more striker upfront to avoid relegation.Somebody like my countryman Slaven Bilic would be a great coach for next season, not up himself, but can do a lot without big names, imagine if he had the money for players like this at the Hammers.
Re: Newcastle Utd Take Over
or even see what steve bruce could have done with all this new money as he got zilch from mike ashley.predrag wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:09 pm Eddie Howe being considered for this job, what a joke why just not keep Graeme Jones till end of season & just buy a reasonable midfielder/2 defenders & 1 more striker upfront to avoid relegation.Somebody like my countryman Slaven Bilic would be a great coach for next season, not up himself, but can do a lot without big names, imagine if he had the money for players like this at the Hammers.
Re: Newcastle Utd Take Over
Like i said earlier he brought in Joelinton for club record transfer 40 million pounds, who was way overpriced & a total flop.He got rid of Alexander Mitrovic who as you can see now at Fulham is a goal machine,& he got them out of the championship previously. With that you can tell he had no idea what he was doing. On the other hand Bilic brought in Antonio a the hammers just before he left, now that is a well scouted player.

Newcastle appoint CEO of Saudi Golf Federation and Public Investment Fund advisor Majed Al Sorour as a club director - just a day after Magpies revealed green and white away shirt which resembles Gulf State's national team kit

If LIV Golf and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) prove their current case in the US court that Yasir Al-Rumayyan is a sitting minister of the Saudi government with sovereign immunity and therefore does not have to give evidence. Where does that leave the FA given that they approved Saudi Arabia's PIF takeover of Newcastle Utd based on the Saudi government not having any control over the club. Yasir Al-Rumayyan being the Newcastle Utd chairman.

I liked this in the Mail,
And from there we might mishandle that old theory of chaos: when a butterfly flaps its wings in a dispute between golf tours in San Jose, a brown, fly-covered lump appears on the carpet of the Premier League’s office in Paddington.
