IFAB will surely go one step to far if they are to officially bring the 'Blue card' to the table and introduce it to the professional game. This would prove a huge own goal for the game in my opinion. How many stoppages already and yet they are trying to introduce a system that will swallow up a huge amount of time and resources.
Imagine some games having three, four, five blue cards etc. running concurrently- an absolute nightmare for players, coaches, officials etc. Initial proposal is to introduce the Blue Card for certain offences and to sin bin the player for 10 minutes. What happens if the offence(s) occur in the final throws of the game- does the referee add more time to allow for this and if not, why should the offending team not be punished. ie. There could be potentially two players from the same team shown a Blue Card on 90+5 minutes played and the Referee blows his whistle two minutes later to end the game.
The mind boggles!
They say Referees should show more common sense- what about the Law makers showing some by kicking this idea in to the bin for good.
