Following a review of the Round 1 Go Sunny Solar WNPL Senior match between Sturt Lions and Adelaide Comets, it was identified that Adelaide Comets had players participate who were not registered within the prescribed national registration window. Adelaide Comets defeated Sturt Lions four (4) goals to nil (0).

Football SA issued a show cause notice to Adelaide Comets following the match and provided an opportunity for the Club to respond. Adelaide Comets provided a response to Football SA which was taken into consideration when determining the matter.

Football SA determined that Adelaide Comets breached Rule 3.4 of the Football SA Competition Operating Regulations, specific to all Senior Women and Junior Competitions and subsequently Rule 61 of Football SA Rules and Regulations. As a result, Adelaide Comets has been issued with a forfeit for the Round 1 match and Sturt Lions are awarded the result three (3) goals to nil (0).

Adelaide Comets were given an opportunity to appeal the determination of Football SA. The Club advised that they accept the sanction. The seven (7) days to lodge an appeal has now lapsed.

Dribl and the league table has been updated publicly.

The goal scorer statistics/referee votes will remain for Sturt Lions as well as disciplinary statistics for both teams i.e. yellow cards.

Football SA would like to remind all clubs to seek clarification on any Rules and Regulations to ensure players are registered correctly and are eligible to participate.
