Pitiful creativity so far from Irvine, Metcalfe and O’Neill from the midfield!

Australia’s midfield were a bunch of plodders without any creative spark.

Japan 🇯🇵 7 China 🇨🇳 0. What will happen to Australia 🇦🇺 when they go to Tokyo?

you should be more worried about what will happen to them when they go to Indonesia

Japan are in a different league, they're not your peers in football terms.

Totally useless last night. Arnold needs to fix this asap.

Also the goal was poor keeping by Ryan. His days must be coming to an end.

Have to agree Con Australia had zero creativity.

It looked like the only game plan was to long diagonal balls to Goodwin and hope for the best.

How do you likes of Duke and Irvine keep getting game time?

Time for Arnold to go.

Australia's attacking tactics/strategy/imagination etc. is virtually non-existent.

Considering Arnold was a striker in his heyday, I don't see him advocating a high-level attacking game plan, which he should be capable of.

If we can't beat Bahrain, then they have Buckley's chances against Japan and Saudi Arabia.

That game was terrible.

Unfortunately GK's today get beaten at the near post all too often whereas years ago it was considered embarrassing to concede a goal this way. Check out Dybala's goal (Argentina's 3rd) today vs Chile & the same thing beaten at near post.
I can clearly remember the older GK's clutching the post with one hand & stretching out as far as possible before committing to dive across their goal mouth ensuring they were not going to be beaten this way.

Also agree with the comment 'how does Duke still get so much game time' . For me Adam Taggart is much much better.

Btw I never liked Arnold as a striker during his time as a Socceroo & I've liked him even less as the coach for our Socceroos.

Absolutely disgraceful that the game is not on free-to-air TV. A sellout crowd of 80,000 in Jakarta will make for a great atmosphere and Australia will have to work hard for any result they can get, be it a narrow win or draw.

9.30pm is a comfortable viewing time and even some neutrals without Paramount+ would have tuned in to their Country’s World Cup Qualifier - had it been on free-to-air.

Equally disgraceful was the fact that in today’s edition (10 September) of that National Broadsheet, “The Australian”, there was no preview about the Australian National Team’s game! Not a word, even with no AFL or NRL on tonight. Pitiful from that Masthead!

Surely a 10pm e.s.t game would rate.

Small article in today's "tiser.

AUSSIES MUST BE ‘BRAVE’

Emerging star Alessandro Circati has called for the Socceroos to be
“brave” in attack in a bid to get their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign
back on track against Indonesia on Tuesday night.
Shock 1-0 losers to Bahrain last Thursday night on the Gold Coast,
Australia can ill-afford another poor result in Jakarta, particularly with
qualifiers against Japan and Saudi Arabia looming in the not-to-distant
future.
While Circati said Tuesday’s result would not be “a matter of life or
death”, he understood the need for the Socceroos to bounce back and show
some class after one of their worst performances in recent memory last
week at Robina Stadium.
“Things like this happen in football,” the 20-year-old defender said.
“It (the loss to Bahrain) is not ideal, but we’ve got to move on. There’s no
point in dwelling on the situation.
“I’d like to think in this game we can be a bit more creative, a bit more
brave offensively, and maybe take half a risk to possibly get half an
opportunity for a goal. Then when we play against the big teams, Japan
and Saudi, we’ll go out there to beat them.”
Despite being a starter for Parma at centre-back in Italy’s Serie A, Circati
was perhaps surprisingly used at right-back against Bahrain by national
coach Graham Arnold.
“I have played there (right back) in the past, not at a professional level,”
he said.
“I feel assured in any position I play on the field. Being a centre-back, I’ve
got more experience in that position.
“Playing at right-back, I don’t feel less assured. I’ve still got the same
confidence playing in that position.

Probably a positive that you can't watch the socceroos on free to air tv...although I'm not sure channel 10 have a better comedy in that time slot. Might need to go back to Oceania Confederation at this rate.

A good story on the state of our national team in the eyes of our politicians. :(

"We can’t get our politicians to even notice football.
They’d rather get on camera talking about launching NRL teams in Papua New Guinea because they don’t understand how World Cup qualification works – and have no desire to learn,"
