What to Learn from the Asian Cup

Post by Rodger-k »

After seeing the results from last nights semi-finals what should we draw from them?

"Today was a victory for Arabian football, especially for Iraq because everyone knows what is happening there. These victories will bring happiness to the people of Iraq and of Saudi Arabia.
"It is nice also that while the two finalists are from the Arab school they are both being coached by Brazilians."

Should our young players be insisting and focusing on being taught the South American way, Johhny Warren always believed we should look away from Europe to South America, Brazil in particular.

Should our next Socceroo coach come from that direction and not from anywhere else?

2006/2007 EPL runner up
2006/2007 Champions League Semi-Finalist
2006/2007 FA Cup winners
2006/2007 League Cup winners
and still considered 2006/2007 to be an un-successful season

Well A-League clubs are recruiting numeroius players from South America and I think because of that our local game will head in that direction.

That might filter upwards to the national team too, especially in the qualifiers where A-League players are selected.
