Junior or Youth Level Coaching ???

Post by SANTOS »

When is the next junior level coaching coarse.
I have been playing for 20 years and now its time to coach.
Is there anyway way I can get my licence without doing the coarse if i have played soccer for that long.

Your onto a good start, however you will need to complete a certified course. This is to protect yourself, youth and organisations against any 'duty of care' issues.

Either log onto the FFSA web site http://www.ffsa.com.au/coaching.asp or the Office of Recreation & Sport http://www.recsport.sa.gov.au/index.php this has an online course that will give the basics.

The Junior & Youth licence are very good.

OR
If your ambition is to become a pro or semi-pro coach, apply for entry to the C Certificate course. Playing experience is one of the main criteria for acceptance on the C certificate. (Note: depending on experience, you may be required to complete an FFA Junior Certificate prior to acceptance on the C course.)

SANTOS, if you have played for a certain period at a certain level, you don't need to do the junior license. Can go straight to the youth license.

Is that a fact?

I might be wrong but I thought that last year the federation sent out a directive stating that all coaches require a minimum of a Junior level licence, or the individual will face a $1000.00 fine.

See my above post, the info comes from the ffsa sight.

Well, thats what I did.

I didn't do the junior but I have done the youth and senior licenses. I was told I didn't need to do the junior as I had a played a certain level and for a certain amount of time.

I meant to add this to my second post;
I have no coaching accreditation, but have significant playing experience
if your interest is in Community coaching, enrol on an FFA JUNIOR FOOTBALL CERTIFICATE.

From the FFA and FFSA site.

Things change.

SANTOS,the coarses are actually worthwhile even if they are a bit boring at times!
You will pick up a lot of usefull things while you are there, from the instructors and from fellow coaches!
I'm pretty hard headed in the way I like to coach, but the coarses did give me a few ideas!
Met a few good people aswell.......and Silent P
