Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
The only Futsal leagues recognised by the governing body FFSA are the Futsal SA competition, all the others are run by Centres andother Private enterprises.
Futsal SA website: http://www.geocities.com/futsalsouthaustralia
Competitions may not be all year round for the Juniors but in September after the outdoor season ends children from the ages of 8 up to youths under 19 flock to play Futsal at the Campbelltown leisure Centre, The Magill Sports Centre and at the St. Jays Recreation Centre in Salisbury.
From these competitions Futsal SA selects their 10 Futsal State teams to participate at the 5 day long National Futsal Championships in Canberra 2009
The only all year round Open Men Competitions are at the Magill Sports Centre competitions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday nights.
The Gardens Recreation Centre at Parafield is trying to get going with futsal for Juniors from 4pm, Youths and Open Men or Women starting from 7pm on Sundays starting in May 25th.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Ive played futsal in belgium for St TRUIDEN IN BELGIUM BACK IN 1995. I asked the same question to the soccer federation when i returned. We started A LEAGUE IN 1996 PLAYED ONE SEASON WE HAD A STATE TEAM. The league involved 10 teams and we played sunday nights on a home and away season.
I went back to europe but it seems they scraped the league what a shame.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Are you refering to the Homestart Competition? As if you are it was a big joke that competition.......that is why it was scrapped! people ddnt take it seriously!
The referees showed up to some games and a team has 5 players and they have to play against another team who has 10 players... to make things worse they had to play two 40 minute matches one after the other without a break...
Other times the referee goes to the other side of town for the games and when they get there there is a frofeit..
Then there are players that will tell you how good they were and how many goals they scored in that comp? The quality just wasnt there!!!

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Venues simply aren't interested in complying with FFSA and setting up proper leagues, Futsal is seen as purely a social sport in this state.
I have played at 8 or 9 venues both rebound and futsal ( North, South and West) , and most have great potential for a properly sanctioned comp. The problem is no matter how many times people like FFSA try to set these places up they just want to keep their social competitions alive, and refuse to go under the FFSA flag, I personally think that Universities should be the ones starting to lead the way, Flinders has a very good surface, but are not interested in a serious comp. ( they have one or two good teams down there too)
These mish mash competitions need to be stopped, at least as far as rules etc. I think rebound on indoor cricket pitches is fine as it is technically a different sport. but breakaway futsal comps are what is stopping a league from forming properly in my opinion.
