Looking for 0/35's league info

Post by ettalong »

Hi there, I'm moving over to Adelaide at the end of January and want to join an O/35's team when i get here. Where i have been playing, on the Central Coast in NSW, the league structures are quite different, no numbered divisions as such - premier and reserve seem the same, but apart from that we had all-age teams after the U/18's, then O/35A's, B's, C's and D's in southern and northern divisions. All up, about 70/80 teams playing O/35's there. I see there is the master's league for old farts like me, but also lower divisions seem to be O/35 teams as well. Can anyone clarify/ explain the difference between the lower divisions and the masters league, and which is recommended for a O/35C's player like myself. I have no idea where I'll be living in Adelaide, so I'm not after a recommendation for a club yet, just an understanding of where to fit in. Cheers!

There's a Masters League that play centrally in Adelaide and an over 35's run by the South Australian Amateur Soccer League.

Thanks for the response guys, pm sent Knight 7. On a further note, when do I have to register with a club to play this year? Is the pre-season training with a club a prerequisite for being graded or getting on a team? thanks again.

ettalong , the only prerequisite for getting into most of the o/35's teams is the ability to walk unaided

being able to run would be a real bonus

We are also asking permission to drink beer during the game, why wait until the final whistle

Most teams don't train or it's not compulsory - we have been having a kick about on a Wednesday night for over 10 years all welcome

You can register just before your first game, just need ID Stating that your over 35 or the birth certificate of a Grand Child

Do you train (I use the word loosely) in town or at O'Sully's.

The old guys train near town - Plympton, the real team, (SAASL Div 2) train at O'Sully's so something for everyone

Hello there. I was told to shiraz off a few weeks ago by some knob for posting on the amateur forum so I will quickly state the Masters League advantages...

The difference between The Masters & the amateur league (lower leagues) are:

1. At least 20 games a season
2. All played in a central location (CBD) on good pitches
3. Guaranteed referees for every game
4. Fees are low
5. 9.30 & 11am Kick Off's (alternate)
6. Friendlier
7. A better standard

Most of the players playing in the masters league currently have either played Federation or Amateur level for many years in the past, the league itself can only get bigger & stronger as the years go by.

Cheers

I don't know about that - the Parafield Gardens Team that won the Masters has been very quiet in accepting the challenge from the Downs over 35s team to see who is the better. Still keen to play this game before the Chick Shield if anyone from the Gradens would care to get in contact..............

Here is a bit of poetry for hawkesy

Like a Night Club in the morning, you’re the bitter end.
Like a recently disinfected cabernet-house, you’re clean round the bend.
You give me the horrors
too bad to be true
All of my tomorrow’s
are lousy coz of you.

You put the Shat in Shatter
Put the Pain in Spain
Your germs are splattered about
Your face is just a stain

You’re certainly no raver, commonly known as a drag.
Do us all a favour, here... wear this polythene bag.

You’re like a dose of scabies,
I’ve got you under my skin.
You make life a fairy tale... Grimm!

People mention murder, the moment you arrive.
I’d consider killing you if I thought you were alive.
You’ve got this slippery quality,
it makes me think of phlegm,
and a dual personality
I hate both of them.

Your bad breath, vamps disease, destruction, and decay.
Please, please, please, please, take yourself away.
Like a death a birthday party,
you ruin all the fun.
Like a sucked and spat our smartie,
you’re no use to anyone.
Like the shadow of the guillotine
on a dead consumptive’s face.
Speaking as an outsider,
what do you think of the human race

You went to a progressive psychiatrist.
He recommended suicide...
before scratching your bad name off his list,
and pointing the way outside.

You hear laughter breaking through, it makes you want to fart.
You’re heading for a breakdown,
better pull yourself apart.

Your dirty name gets passed about when something goes amiss.
Your attitudes are platitudes,
just make me wanna piss.

What kind of creature bore you
Was is some kind of bat
They can’t find a good word for you,
but I can...
TWAT.
