Futsal Open Men Grand Finals at THe Gardens Rec Centre

THE GARDENS RECREATION CENTRE OPEN MEN FUTSAL COMPETITION
organised by Futsal SA

The Last round of the inaugural Futsal competition in the North that was held for the first time in about 10 years at the Gardens Recreation Centre at Parafield gardens has produced a couple of upsets to determine who will be contesting the Top 5 Finals and the Next 5 Final series.

Futsal Club The Union dropped their first 3 points of the season in the last round fielding only 5 of ther 8 players losing to The Falcons, but still ended up Minor Premiers. The Falcons moved up to third spot and will play Sam's Tailoring in second place who beat SOB in a close encounter.
Ruff N Ready who had the Bye retain the 5th spot for a go at the Top 5 Finals and will now play in the Elimination Final against SOB.

In the next 5 Final Series Crouching Africans go to 6th Spot which is the Top Spot with a win over Ross's Possie and will have the first Bye.
Nap Time failed to win their game to take Top spot (6th) remaining in 7th and will have to play against the in form HRPW who beat them this week.
Step Brothers in 9th position will play in the Elimination final against The Blazers who by winning their 2nd game of the season go above Ross's Possie who unfortunately now miss out on the finals this season.

It was a good Inaugural competition, the teams took a little while to get their act together and familiarise themselves with the rules after most of them having only played another form of Indoor Soccer and or just the outdoor game.

There were unfortunately a few breaks and a couple of Long weekends due to the National Futsal Championships and due to the Masters Futsal Championships held recently in Geelong, but for the first time playing Futsal at The Gardens after a long absence from this venue, the competition went well and Im sure the teams participating enjoyed the competition and the Futsal experience.

There will be another competition commencing on the 19th of April after we have a couple of weeks break so if you are interested in keeping going with the competition at the Gardens all year round, please let me know asap and nominate your team by the 8th of April.

Futsal SA will be looking at selecting an open Men State team to participate at the National Futsal Championships in Canberra in January 2010.
