Div 4 results

A Grade -

ACU 3 - Murray Bridge 1

B Grade -

ACU 2 - Murray Bridge 2

Didnt see the A grade but B's we hit the woodwork 3 times and had countless other chances which we wasted.. ACU got a (very odd) penalty for their second but the first was a very well taken goal.. Our keeper didnt arrive until half time so yours truly was in goal for the first half so he didn't have much to beat but i dont think anyone would have got to it to be honest.

The home ref figured once again with two blatant penalties for the away team turned down.. one of them even the ACU players agreed was an obvious hand ball but the ref was definate in who he wanted to favour so once again we lose out.. He did put the whistle to his lips but then realised it would be a penalty and put it down again, absolutely disgraceful..

But the first team is what really matters and we didnt get anything out of what was always going to be a hard game.. I still say that of all the teams we play ACU play the better football and can ony think that the huge gap in quality between their B grade and A grade is what's costing them points when htey have suspensions and injuries.

Again I reiterate this is my personal opinion before all the other teams jump down my throat! :?

Division Six: Hahndorf 2 Fc Adelaide 3

Firstly thanks to Handorf for advising us of a change of ground.... yes sarcasm! After arriving up at the ground listed on the SAASL and Handorf own website we were advised that the game to be played in Mylor. I'd never even been to Mylor before. After some research an a convey of vehicles following each other we got there. What a shocker of a pitch. Makes Cowandilla look good. One goal net had a gap between it and the crossbar and although all the goals were scored at that end fortunately there were contreversies as a result of the net. There were no flags for the linesmen the home team had half their team playing in stripes and half in white shirts, and ended up using the away teams matchballs. What a shambles!

To the game itself, the wind and sun made it a game of two halves. To be honest we were relatively poor in the first half and went into the break trailing 2-0. Both goals had a bit of fortune to them. The second may even go down as a Bodø own goal (oops). Come the second half and with the wind behind us we pulled it back to 2-2. At that point I would have settled for a 2-2 draw but in the final minutes we managed to get a winner and come home with a 2-3 win. I think that was an own goal too.

Yes, we played there earlier this season. Apparently it's a junior pitch and really tiny? You've practically wrapped up Div 6 now!

Div II

A: Vipers FC 2 Breakers 0
B: Vipers FC 3 Breakers 2
C: Vipers FC 6 Mt Barker 0

Scorers (A): Matsouliadis (2)
(B): Gill (2), Kefalas

What a day for the Vipers - a 9 pointer! The B's, courageous in coming back from a 2-0 deficit, snatched victory in the dying minutes. Well done lads!

As for the A's, it was very much a waiting game, as Breakers continually frustrated our attacking moves. It took an inspiring 2nd half from the whole team to see birthday boy Matsouliadis finish off the first after a Massis free kick hit the underside of the bar, and then he finished off a sweeping move from a through ball from Kali. A great day for the Vipers, and another step closer to the title and promotion - let's keep the ball rolling!

Go Vipers!

Div 2: Navarino 0-2 Salisbury Villa
Villa too strong in the second half for Navarino. A big result which leaves Villa and Vipers fighting for the title still. A win next week for Villa at home to FC Adelaide could secure a Top-2 spot depending on today's result for Budapest (Who I think were playing FC Adelaide).

Although the first two teams might not be the only sides being promoted. Heard another rumor about Africa being sent straight to Division 3, regardless of where they finish in division 1. This could mean the first 3 sides in the second division will be promoted, leaving the door open for the sides below the top 2. That's Budpaest, Comets and Iggies I believe.
Assuming that's the case, Comets V OISC next weekend is absolutely massive in the race for the possible 3rd promotion spot.

Mate, you play to the whistle and thats it, we've copped some shocking decisions this season and we just take the good with the bad.

And if you think that wasn't a penalty in the reserves, how do you explain forceful contact that brought the man down without touching the ball?

Yes, didnt see the game but apparently Flinders were up 2-0 at half time. Mt barker only had 10 players and Flinders had the wind in the second half but somehow let it slip to lose 4-2.

Wind played a big factor in our game too. Fortunately we managed to use it to overturn a 2-0 deficit to grap a winner in the final stages.
