Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
I see they lost 2-0 both teams (away to Angle Vale). I hear they forfeited as they already wrapped up top spot. This has effectively handed Angle Vale an automatic promotion spot (for finishing second) in a game you would normally expect WS to win, or maybe draw, and thus Polonia missed out (ie one point in it). I know there are no guarantees on results BUT something doesnt smell right. Poor form.

League should force a game to be played or award each team 1 point and a 0-0 scoreline !Bomber wrote:I see they lost 2-0 both teams (away to Angle Vale). If true- that's disgusting. I'd be on the war path if I was from Polonia.Bomber wrote:I see they lost 2-0 both teams (away to Angle Vale). I hear they forfeited as they already wrapped up top spot. They at least show up to games. Isn't that why you put a team in the league?Bluedad wrote:if only...

A very poor effort - unfortunately there is not much the league can do except fine the club.

Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
If thats true the league needs to step in and deduct points from the club , if they did that they would be making a stand from this happening again.i think strikers need to have a close look at themselves if this happens to be true.
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
Haven't followed Div 5 but have previously lived in Angle Vale. I don't really understand why Western Strikers would hand Angle Vale a promotion spot like that. What do they gain from it? Are you suggesting Angle Vale gave them something in return? Because I find that hard to believe. I guess at that level a case of beer would suffice. Is promotion actually something players strive for at that level, sorry if that sounds ignorant, just always figured it was nothing more than a bit of weekend fun in the lower divisions. Sure the winning feeling will still be there but I doubt by those means. I'm inclined to think that there was a legitimate reason for the forfeit.
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
well from what ive heard, polonia had it coming so well done strikers, you did a good job. As for strikers not rocking up i believe they have also done this a few times in the season so its nothing new.

Yes, they couldnt be bothered. Too far to travel maybe. Like I said, what comes around goes around.tibbaw69 wrote:Haven't followed Div 5 but have previously lived in Angle Vale. You are congratulating them? Polonia had it coming? In what way? As for it being "nothing new" for not rocking up, this says a lot about their credibility. Bravo!goal!!! wrote:well from what ive heard, polonia had it coming so well done strikers, you did a good job. Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
Obviously those who hold the spirit of the game (its called integrity) care! I doubt that the forfeits you've come across would have been "deliberate" and had a promotion outcome pending on it.CHUCK wrote:who bloody cares, we've all come across a forfeit before at all levels of the game!

Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
I've known and seen quite a few 2 footed players, players who have only 1 foot and some who can't kick with either, but I've never seen a player with forfeit (not to be confused with Johnny Manca - a 4 foot player !)CHUCK wrote:who bloody cares, we've all come across a forfeit before at all levels of the game!

Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
go and cry , any way it may not matter saasl may have a big shake up of teams with all those news ones coming , ala courtesy of ffsa - the way they are heading the saasl / edjsa will be the biggest league maybe they should talk to ffa
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
Western Strikers didn't exactly thrash angle vale the first time so why would you assume if they played on the weekend, strikers would have won or at least draw?Bomber wrote:Obviously those who hold the spirit of the game (its called integrity) care! Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
Well, we will never know will we! Thats the whole point! If Angle Vale played the game, and won, I wouldnt have even raised the topic.CHUCK wrote:Western Strikers didn't exactly thrash angle vale the first time so why would you assume if they played on the weekend, strikers would have won or at least draw?Bomber wrote:Obviously those who hold the spirit of the game (its called integrity) care! Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
SAAL should act and take action against Western Strikers for the forfeit. Polonia (both teams)and their supporters turn up against the Vietnamese - plays the game with the knowledge that 2nd spot and promotion to Div 4 is at stake. Only to find out that Western Strikers forfeit and hand a win to Angle Vale. Overheard a few weeks ago that Western Strikers applied to SAASL to be included in Div 3 in 2010. Yes, Polonia players are very unhappy about the outcome of the final round in Div 5. SAASL should take action.
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
agree whole leagues a joke if this can happen and teams dont get sufficently penalised think a fine of $2000 of no appearance would change things?no wonder people want to organize break away leagues
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
Sorry Chuck but I do. If you commit to play you should commit to play the whole season regardless.Bomber wrote:Obviously those who hold the spirit of the game (its called integrity) care! I know I am a cheeky little devil but has anyone seen Mike Hunt in the car park?
Re: Div 5 - Western Strikers (suss)
when I commit to play, I play. But when another team forfeit I get pissed off for wasting my time but I soon get over it.. there's always something else to do.
