Some confusion with the U14 Boys listed for Pitch 2 but on the map shown as Pitch 1 and vice versa for the U16 Girls :?
Time for some righteous indignation

I don't know the reasoning but I think in past years the Girls have always played on the main pitch. Therefore the map would be wrong.

Unfortunately all of the u14 players have played their last representative games for their respective zone.
the u15-u17 age group is where the FFSA need to focus on also.
Why cant the STIC chamionships be extended to u15,u16 and u17 not all kids will get into the SASI or state teams.
Is it all to hard FFSA?!

This is from the SASI web site, but I'm assuming that the pathway is similar in all states and therefore if you want to point the finger (if there is one to be pointed) then it should be at FFA rather than FFSA.

After the U14 STIC, selection appears to become a National process.

http://www.recsport.sa.gov.au/sasi/docu ... athway.pdf

Again, just assumptions on my part, but those that excelled in the U14 STIC this year will get a chance to try out for next year's U15 State squad.

Our budding superstars from the 15s,16s and 17s that miss out on this process will no doubt, in theory, get noticed as they start playing up by a year or more in their respective club sides.

I'm in no way convinced that the current pathway and systems, including STIC and State team selection, are the perfect way of identifying talent, but I don't see myself or any of the other Einstein's on here coming up with anything better.

And the question has to be asked, is the system there to ensure Australia gets the best players available or merely to further the careers of our own little darlings?

I'd love to see something similar to STIC organised for the 15,16 and 17s, but at the moment it's not really within the remit of the FFSA to organise it. Where would it fit in the calendar? There's no more room at Para Hills to hold it on the long weekend, plus you'd have to get another 15 volunteer coaches and team managers plus referees for 33 matches.

Any process of selection is going to be imperfect because players develop physically and mentally at different rates, but I suspect that the reason they stop it at U14s is that they want players that they can mould into the 'State' way of playing, whereas older players may have already got set in their ways.

In any event, you'd have to think that if a player is good enough as he gets older that he'd get noticed then.

And there in lies the problem. It seems they don't get noticed when they actually should.
