this is probably a stupid question but when I go to the junior matches every week I've noticed that the ref's wear different colour shirts - blue, grey, red etc
do these have a purpose? indicates if they are trainee, fully fledged etc?
if so, what does each colour shirts represent?

Re: Referee Colours
The Red, Yellow and Blue shirts are the standard kit. Colour worn depends on what colour the teams playing are wearing at also goalkeeper colour is taken into consideration.
Referees in a Green shirt with 'Play by the Rules' on the back are young referees who have just entered the scene. They wear this just to advise players and crowds they are new and still learning their way into becoming a referee.
Hope that helps.
