Re: results 29/8
From FFSA:
Adelaide City 17 14 3 0 77 13 64 45
Adelaide Olympic 16 10 3 3 52 25 27 33
Fulham United 18 8 3 7 36 38 -2 27
Sturt Marion 17 7 0 10 27 33 -6 21
MUWFC Magic 17 6 2 9 23 31 -8 20
Cumberland Utd 17 3 1 13 23 55 -32 10
Is this up to date?
If so, even if Olympic have a game in hand A.City have won the league, didn't they?
And they also have a 37 goal lead in goal difference! That's amazing IMO, especially since the league was the closest this time, with no 'easy' games.
I saw first half yesterday and was very impressed. Everybody was.
They certainly play great football.

Just curious – how many (if any) teams pay their players in Prems? I heard that one team (no surprises as to who) do, but just curious as to whether this was true? I have no idea on this, I could be way on or off as far as I know.
Re: results 29/8
Pretty sure you will find none
"Just ask yourself, have you hugged your goalkeeper today?"

I doubt if any clubs could actually afford to pay players............
Also, any reserve scores from the weekend ??
Re: results 29/8
Teams may not pay cash in hand but I know some teams buy the players fancy boots, give petrol money and let the player out of paying fees.

Re: results 29/8
25$ per player would be $400 per game. I certainly don't reckon that any all-girls' clubs would have the money for even that. And I suspect that the boots or petrol money wouldn't be coming from the club organizations, but from individuals within the clubs that could do that every once and awhile. In short, women's clubs affiliated with guys' clubs wouldn't have the resources because it's all about the guys and women's clubs that stand alone won't have the revenue.
Re: results 29/8
Irrespective of where the money comes from, the fact remains that there are players at some clubs who have had their boots bought for them, fees waived and 'petrol money' paid.
We all know it happens, I really don't see the point in getting coy about it. It is a problem and one of the reasons that the smaller clubs find it so hard to compete.

there are some players ( i am guessing ? ) that dont play for the club, or the love of the game -but what they themselves can get out of it.
If you have any of these players, get rid of them, they will do long term damage to your club. Look after the players that have the club at heart. I admire players who have made it at the top level, and then return to their former club, refusing to sell themselves off to the highest bidder - unfortunately they are few and far between.

Look, I really don't have a problem with the girls being paid (given gifts, waived fees whatever) despite the fact that it is morally suspect and against competition rules. If that's what clubs are happy to do, and the players have a clear conscience over it then so be it.
Ideally I'd love them all to be on contracts so that clubs could give them whatever they wanted, and so that the smaller clubs have some leeway with players leaving. I've been around football long enough to know that this happens at all levels of the game, across all the leagues.
My problem lies in the fact that we all bemoan the lack of depth in our game and the lack of clubs that can compete at the highest level, while there are some clubs systematically hoovering up all the talent promising them the world.
If there was a surplus of talent in the state that we could have 7-8 clubs full of 16 exceptional player squads, then while I would have a hard time morally justifying it, I would say go nuts and offer players whatever you wanted.
But we don't.
We all want the federation to change things, but I think some clubs and players need to take a hard look at themselves and ask themselves 'Do we really want the even league we are calling for? Or are we just in it to look after our club?'.
If they are honest about their motivations, then I wouldn't have a problem, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Re: results 29/8
I think u all are WAY out of mark here!
I really don't think players go to a club or another because they get a pair of boots!!!
Players go where:
1 their friends are
2 they get the best coaching
3 they get the best opportunity to play in a competitive Prem side.
And not only in this order.
If then they ALSO get their fees waived, even better.
For instance, I bet that no top player would have gone to C'town this season even if they got fancy boots or no fees. And last year when lots of players went to Metro, I don't think they did so because they were offered money or boots!
Get a reality check and call again please.

Re: results 29/8
So...explain this: does the state team set-up + united look at particular clubs when recruiting? Because with the men's set-up it kind of falls this way.
I would think this would drive certain players to clubs, if not free boots
Anyway, thanks to all for answering my initial query.
