Death Metal ??

I think that's what "style" or "genre" it was meant to be??
A couple of young lads were outside the local post office with some death metal noises pouring out of one of their mp3 players (or phone).
Really...what is that shit ? I'm usually not one to criticise other people's music choices....but seriously...it's not music !

Damnation - one of my favourite albums of all time.

I love Opeth aswell - theyre not your average straight up metal band. they can go in any direction.

as for swannsongs opinion on death metal - its definately not for everyones taste.
im sure some people would listen to some of the stuff you listen to and think the same thing

I listen to a fair bit of 3D radio 93.7 and they play a lot of death metal local acts. I reckon it's piss funny. That stupid vocal style just makes me laugh. But each to their own of course.

Would be interesting to know if those who like Death Metal as teenagers-young adults will go on to still enjoy that music as 40-50 year olds.
I don't usually dislike too many musical styles....so long as there is some form of melody and lyrics that I might relate to, or some form of music ability I think requires skill or novel music.....I can't fit much of what I've heard from the "death metal genre" into any of those categories.

Most death metal, and rap for that matter, I dont classify as music, rather than an "alternative arrangement of annoying and often ear and mind disturbing sounds".

most hip hop is garbage - i'll give you that

but thats probably cause you only hear the cr@p thats played on radio and commercial tv - and that stuff is crap.

but theres plenty out there thats decent with intelligent lyrics, great beats that dont include the words money, bitches or any other stereotypical phrase that you probably associated with hip hop.

as for Opeth - theyre a metal band, but can also produce songs like this:
