GIAE what was the score at half time?
Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”

60 goals, never to be equalled.

Tickets on sale to members only, 1 ticket per member and the game was still a sell out. What more do you want?

AC vs Inter, Barca vs Real, Celtic v Rangers, United v City or Liverpool. They're all shaking in their boots.
boca and river as well

A bit confused here - I said about the best derby in England and I'm pretty sure that most of those teams aren't English.

What's the capacity of hindmarsh - I would guess it's less than the New Den, even if you count it's standing areas.

It was a complete and utter sell out, every ticket that was available to Millwall and west ham fans was sold out.

However, west ham were not allowed seats in the lower tier of the North stand. The last block in the East and West stand was also unavailable, as was the front row of all 4 stands lower tiers.

This was police advice, every available seat was sold. Not tickets were available - A SELL OUT!!

only one person could have turned up and the game still would have been sold out.

Every available ticket was sold - by definition that's a sell out.

Remember the photo of Stevie G kissing the camera at OT?
How many United fans do you see in the background making a noise?
How many do you see taking a photo of an opposition player celebrating a goal?
Yep, can really see that happeneing at the Den.

He would have backed away from that corner VERY quickly if he'd done that at the den.

Similar to Cantona going into the crowd at palace, do you think he'd have come back out if he'd have done that there?

Translation - Millwall, even for its so-called "biggest derby in England", attracts about as many as Adelaide United home game v Melbourne Victory at Hindmarsh.

.... and is notorious for lifting the roof off the place, just as much as any other higher profile derby with 50k there.
As for AU's 15k, the 6000 at Boundary Park would drown them, let alone the same number at the Den.
This sticking up for Hawkesy is bloody killing me!

They must have had the mikes off when showing the highlights package last night.

Plus, over there they at least have a roof to lift off!

No, it's all that's "allowed" to attend not how many it attracts.

Make the ground bigger and make it open to non members and you'd get a lot more.

To quote a convict mate who came to a game at Millwall a few years back.
How am I supposed to watch adelaide united now, Millwall have half the amount of people making twice as much noise.

Well we took 50,000 to Wembley in 1999 and that's still there.

Actually, it got demolished just after

Mate, my ceiling fan makes more noise than an Adelaide United game. Merely comparing numbers, that's all.
