A lot of Gully/Vista posturing on here...... I've played for both clubs and I think Gully have a slight edge over Vista overall as a club. Both sets of guys are great to socialise with. Bulldog's a bit of an muscat though :)

Pontians should walk Div 2, with Gully 2nd and Vista 3rd - there you go!

4 ?.? could it be S.G in 2years time??????????????.
why is that so.

and not sure if K.K coached there as well????
that could make it 4 out of 6 or so coaches.
I wonder if the grass was greener on the other side :?:
I'm very happy to have moved to West Ham, because I can play for a better team than Sheffield Wednesday.

It was always gonna be interesting mate but the banter is all in good fun from both sides.

Im happy to do some fitness. But that was all we ever did. I didnt touch a ball once when i was out there and i think that says something. BTW sorry i couldnt commit to training twice a week. People have to work you know. Im just happy that with the Gully they understand this. This is the amatuer league remember. I think you forgot this fact 8)

Ronnie,
The amatuer league is definately becoming a more professional league in my opinion. I think the days are gone where u can train once a week and still play first team. Unfortunatley some guys cant train twice a week therefore fitness training must be done at some stage on the night u can train or you'll get pumped every week.
As for the gullies getting paid, this rumour gets around every year. I've heard from a very reliable source you guys do get paid, but quite frankly i dont give a toss. Why does everyone care so much. Maybe you should all look in your own back yards about "secret" payments no one knows about. I'm sure if there is only one or two players getting paid in a team they are not going to tell the rest of the boys are they???

True East boy but I wasen't expecting to play first team at Vista i just wanted a game and whether that was A's, B's, C's or wherever i was happy with that this season. Ive never got paid playing amatuer soccer so unfortunetly as much as i love my soccer work comes first. Im just happy that the Gully dont have a problem with this and i can get a run out there. I haven't heard anything at Gully bout players getting paid, It doesnt really bother me either to be honest. As you said im sure every club has a player recieving secret payments!

The large majority of Amatuer Teams who pay players often end up losing others - the money then dries up and they quickly start to slide! Also 99% of the time other players find out, if teams in Division 2 are paying players then thats up to them, but personally wouldn't encourage it, you need 40 or more players for a season (with C's or masters) and with 3 or 4 being paid that's 36 or more who generally won't be happy

Where Eastboy do you think the amateur league is becoming more professional??? better refs? more refs? lots of new clubs coming in? Clubs finishing 5th and getting promoted? strong div 1(royal park ,nab relegated with 5 games left last year)....i take it your reasonably new to amateurs, i remember back to the early 90's with 13 divisions and still always getting refs in res div 1 games(and most of them were in their 40-50s cept jimmy johnstone), there were more teams at similiar levels and the bottom sides were very competitive. what do you mean professional??

You were only there once! We have never had a problem with people training just once a week, it has always been said at Vista that work and family must come first. I've had that understanding with many coaches there over the last 8 years. every player has been made VERY welcome this season, and to lose just 3 players because they threw their rattle out the pram is pretty good going considering it was ALL fitness!
But thanks for coming! :P

Jealous beachbum ? maybe the fact your struggling to fulfill a c team, your a tact on afterthought to lockleys footy club!!but i did hear you painted your club rooms, good luck to ya, must have been a big celeb party!! small club mentality!!! but i spose most clubs have one! and big dan told me your all good lads down there?? question mark over 1..
. lets start with our c team. struggling for players?first season for the boys and they will be fine. will pass on your concerns though. we are actually tact on to the baseball club and the new paint job looks great. you guys are getting a bit touchy for a club thats not paying, you have to be honest though, if these players are as good as your saying. you would have to be offering more than just div 2 football. and please dont just say its because of the great club atmosphere. thats what pontians say
What is meant by that comment Beach Bum? what are all clubs the same, all do the same things at training, all have the same individuals training and running the club? I believe The Pontians have something different especially coming off a season where you have won a league both As and Bs. Cant wait till we play ya

I am living proof that you dont have to train twice a week to get a game for the Vista A team. You just have to be good enough!!

GULLY BOYZ wrote:I would hope your ground is in good nick as you probably dont have 500 juniors and 100 seniors training on them each week! We have had to fork out to have 4 pitches under lights to cope with the huge demand to play at our club! Training and playing, facility wise, dont think there is too many clubs to match that, is what Robin friday is putting across! Better still huge club rooms coming soon!!! :D ,so beachbum,we can send you a meal voucher for our ex gully boy simon to have a meal after the game and a brains to chase it! Look forward to having a beer with you boys soon!
100 seniors - far out what do you have like 6 or 7 senior teams?

Carra 23, Aren't you Vista's senior coach :?: If so your club needs to have a word, you are showing an absolute lack of professionalism. I don't know of any club(other than Vista) that would allow their coach to attack ex players on a public forum. You need to spend less time worrying about players at other clubs and much much more time on trying to teach your side how to play football.

You should take a leaf out of Gully's book, not only do they play a much more attractive brand of football but their coach knows how to conduct himself in a decent manner.

Apart from a one off win against an over 35 police team your results have been poor to say the least.

As robin friday pointed out before As Bs Cs over 35s and the riff raff side who infact would beat or give any over 35s side a good run, if any side would like a game (friendly). who have around 24 turn up! thats who burt from vista tries to have a kick with ! got to give it to him turns up each week still cant get off the bench, god bless him! hope that calculates ok for you MR X

Yes i am relatively new to the amatuer league. I've only been a part of it for 5 years, so i cant comment on the 90's. But, what i mean is that the clubs themselves are getting a little more proffesional, (slowly) not the league. sorry for not making that clear. Clubs are now getting a lot more active in the sponsor side of it and i do beleive you now have to train twice a week to keep yourself competetive in div1. You've been around the traps for a long time robin, what do you think?? Are there less supporters now than yesteryear? Is there more $$ now than before.
I look at the downs as a great example. They are moving forward probably more than any other team in the way of sponsorship, function nights, 7-a-side tournaments etc. I would say Gullies are a lot better off now than they were 5-10yrs ago wouldn't you??

true eastboy there is probably more sponsorship today, you only have to look in the downs's clubrooms and you'll see the extent of their sponsorship.Crowds, a lot of clubs used to get crowds similiar to what the downs get today including the parafield and vale (still get similiar)east used to get similiar on bottom pitch, inter had good crowds, the cove, gully had good crowds in the late 80s early 90s,maco ,florina.most games there were 150 upwards, you have always need to train twice a week BUT if a player has work or family commitments then so be it,as long as half the team doesnt youll be okay.at the east in the 90s we would have all 16 first team squad train twice otherwise you may not be in,the difference with the coaches is they cant be as hard as back then cause players walk quicker these days!(gerry petit would have no players left if he coached today).gully are probably better off now than 5-10years ago but are they better off than 10-20 years ago ??you cant use the word professionalism on this site eastboy, we're amateurs!!!

What are you trying to say muppetpants, that carra isn't the first vista coach to partake in banta on here??
i think you'll find that he is.
vista's last coach won "amateur league's forum most funniest poster"
not abusing people from other club's.
well maybe maco's
oh and perhaps pumas
and i guess fulham
but them aside i'm really rather nice to people.
