Black Eagles - kicked out of league

Post by Bomber »

Just had an SMS from reliable source that the Amateur League have officially kicked the Black Eagles out of the competition.
Cant say I am surprised. But feel sorry for those at the club who had little or nothing to do with the recent pitch invasions. Also feel sorry for those teams in Div 4 that will get a bye every now and then (or maybe they will enjoy the odd week off, who knows). I am not sure whether remaining games will be treated as byes or forfeits, but will make little difference.
I suppose it puts other clubs on notice - mess up and you will be kicked out - end of story.

Happy that there is finally closure on the issue. There is no room for violence in sport.
As you say, in a way it's a shame they were kicked out because a few of their boys are good, fair players. Shame it all came undone because of a few idiots, but I'm sure the good ones won't have trouble finding another club to play for.

Wow. I'd noticed that the cup round ties had been given to their opposition. As for whether their results get expunged or futre games get treated as byes hopefully someone from that division could tell us what they have been told.

It's a shame that they couldn't control their actions because there was a lot of people at the game I went to (a lot more than I've seen at other clubs).

The bottom line is as you said, there is no room for violence in sport.

I just noticed you were due to play them this weekend. Has your club been advised as to whter it would be treated a forfiet or a bye?

I have just hear different. Only suspended for another week while the league decides the punishment.

Should the be kicked out all previous results against them should be rubbed out and future games treated as byes. This would cause no significant movement in the table.

Sorry Black Eagles but its about time your wings were clipped!

As for feeling for the players caught up in this, at the end of the day its not like this is the first time the club has been in trouble. SURELY they would've known SOMETHING would happen eventually.

Who wants to bet that a "new club" will sign up next year?

The cynic in me also wondered about a 'new club' signing up next year.
I guess amongst the players there is good apples and bad apples. I know what I saw in the cup game.
The player who got sent off to start the incidents had only been on the park for ten/fifteen minutes and never looked interested in playing football.
Actually he shouldn't have been allowed to take the field until he put on the same colored shorts as the rest of the team.

This also is possible - they have a prominent "legal" person linked to the club - maybe things on ice pending further "discussions"? Like I said, was an SMS but also from a fairly reliable source. We'll soon know for sure I suppose!

But why would a person that high up be bothered with a div 4 amateur club? And how could they possibly interfere with SAASL's decision?

So then does everyone assume that Beograd SC can enlist the help of State Labor MP and current Attorney-General Michael Atkinson with all our legal issues since his son plays for our premier league side?

Old Ignatians can count Dr Brendan Belson on our side then (old scholar in the 70s/80s) .... here comes our federal money. Watch out for the Glenunga Superdome to take off - we're gunning for the second A-League team!!!

Downs had Peter Duncan living across the road from Argana and he opened their clubrooms.
Needless to say they are seeking Federal funding for plastics recycling !

Yes, that is correct. Black Eagles re-instated. Not sure why the 2 games were awarded to opposition for free, whereas the others need to play them. Seems strange. I bet they will be "monitored" very closely from now on though. Hopefully they get everything in order now.

I remember watching my brother play against Vilaznia in 2001 I think (also of Albanian heritage so I assume they got kicked out at some point and at some point became the Black Eagles) and the police had to be called as a full-scale riot broke out with their supporters kicking my brothers teammates in the head whilst on the ground...my brother also was attacked with a chain(!) but they didn't know how well he could handle himself (he eliminated a few challenges, put it that way).

Needless to say in the away leg all the engines were left running during the game!

How the hell do teams like this end up in our leagues? Doesn't the SAASL make enough money?! Stop letting them in!!! For farks sake, people ended up in hospital years ago because of people probably still involved with this team. Forget about who "they know", what difference does it make when they act like the sub-humans they are?

This happened last season where offending clubs had to forfiet two matches after similar problems and I thought the same thing.

this is ridiculous, why give two clubs three points each and a week off, and other clubs have to play them.? why not just deduct six points from them? and leave an even playing field for all other teams.
