Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tonight as I had wanted to (the tyranny of distance and time + 2 sick boys).
All the best to those who played and worked around the Club throughout the year.

How did the night go (or is it still going), who won what ?

Yeah it was a cracking night with Luke Hall winning the A,s best and fairest, Agars was runner up, Benny Aldridge won club man of the year, Carlos the wonder kid won a boat load of trophies, thats about all I can remember and I was the MC so as you can see it was a cracking night.
Bert was named First Team coach which got the seal of approval from everyone in the room.

So its Official, Bert has the Senior Job at The Downs Next year?

Yes Bert will be coaching the Downs next year. The appointment just has to be confirmed by the new committee in a couple of weeks but that is just a formality. As most positions on the commitee will be filled by the same committee that we have now. Andy Dreyer has accepted the reserves coaching role again. Under Bert we will be the fittest team in the league next year.

Thank you Legga for your work on the night, i would gladly pay bucks just to listen to your observations anytime. Thanks for not giving me such a hard going over this year. Though getting called kermit all night was a pain in my big green ass. The lime green shirt I wore was in memory of a lost friend Des Thackray. He had no connection to the Downs but was a guy I will never forget.

Congrats to all winners on the night. Luke Hall was a well deserved winner of Club champion.
